I got Volume 2 as well as the set with the 1st Volume. You are right, the CD rocks. I have music to listen to while I work on my novel now!

The Trilogy is the Star Wars on DVD, and that's $45 and up.

Okay in other news, for those of you waiting to hear something. The quick version, I have 3 words for you:

Call of WHAT?

Followed by oh yeah, that game. I kinda forgot about that game...it must be around here somewhere but WHO CARES?

Heh, okay. So the graphics are awesome (Cooler would appreciate the realism). The options are many as far as what type of clone/droid/trooper whatever the hell you want. I've got no clue what I'm doing, some of the controls will take a little getting used to but all in all, I'm so excited about this game I'm about to pee. And you know FPS games generally aren't my business.

It's going to be a damned shame when husband comes home and kicks me to the curb so he can play. I might put up a fight...and he does have dvds to watch...and...hehe this beats kicking chickens (although I haven't had my fill of that yet either).

More later.

PS. Ayla's Game Warning: Do not try to type for days after installing this game, you're funcitons to think in complete sentences and type with few errors will be seriously impaired.

Extensive!

Okay, I'm doped up, and can hold out on Battlefront for a few minutes... Yah. Yeeaaaah. Ah crap, withdrawls!

The war on foot: It EXISTS. This is not Fourty-Two. The Foot Soldier holds almost all advantages over vehicles. This was designed for the common grunt. At every location and at random places, medical droids and "trash can" droids hang around to heal and rearm you.

The soldier has an accurate automatic rifle and two types of grenades. Yay. It takes a lot of shots to kill someone unless you hit them in the head (I stood up to one guy and fired away at his chest and it took twenty shots, but then I shot a guy in the head and it took two).

The sniper barely has to lead his shot, if not at all. One shot to the head is a kill, and his semi-auto rifle can quickly let out the second to the body.

Pilots have grenade launchers, slow rate, small splash, good damage. Then they have a blowtorch! To repair things such as speeders, X-Wings, or TaunTauns.

The anti-armor units have mines and stuff that 'splodes (rockets). The rockets have small splashes, and therefore are crappy against infantry. Whip out that pistol.

Everyone has pistols (except Wookies and Droideka). Like... the original Unreal, the pistol charges and therefore has unlimited ammo. Fire the pistol too much and it overheats and has to recharge entirely before one can shoot again.

The Fifth Special Character. All four have one. The rebels have a Wookie who has an almighty bowcaster, grenade launcher and time bombs. The Imperials have a Phase Two DarkTrooper, with a shotgun-like weapon and a Jetpack not meant for flying but for jumping really high. The Droids have the Droideka, the rolling thing with shields you saw in Episode One. And the Republic clones have a... clone of the Dark Trooper, a Jet Trooper (who, unlike the Dark Trooper can stay in the air much longer).

The Wookie doesn't have a pistol, and all his weapons are limited, so make sure he's stocked up. The Droideka doesn't either, but his repeating guns have the same kind of charge as the pistol. Everyone else has pistols so only the Wookie player really has to worry about low ammo (he has lots of ammo for his bow and.. M203, though).

-

Vehicles. Heavily-armored. Slow. And in almost every vehicle besides the ATST/AT/AE/starcraft, the soldiers' heads are sticking out. It takes quite a few accurate (hit placement is a factor in damage) rockets or heavy blaster shots to take down something like an ATST.

Starcraft. Rarely are they in any map. So far I've seen only in Hoth, any air vehicles (T37 Snowspeeder), and there were many others I've yet to see with other aircraft (I'm still playing the Droid Campaign and did an instant action Hoth). Hell, there were many I've seen that had almost no vehicles at all!

-

Loading times... What loading times? To load a BIGASS map, it took about nine seconds, and during that time, I was treated to a orbital camera zooming in on the planet, showing me exactly where the battle is taking place. The load had already finished by the time the camera gets down to the ground, and it took no more than ten, nine seconds. The only time you will see a "Loading" is when you first start up the game, and when you load a map (both times take no more than ten seconds, loading may take longer on Multiplayer while you're attempting to connect, but its really short).

-

Physics. The physics are sweet, blasters move the same speed as they do in the movies (much much faster than games like Jedi Knight), grenades bounce off of walls and launch nearby enemies sky-high, them actually "hitting" the wall they were just thrown into. Players shot off the side of a building roll forward and crash into the ground below. A pilot shot off his speeder goes rolling really fast until he comes to a stop, the last tumble stopped by inertia as his feet spring out onto the ground.

-

Graphics. Here's where the "awesome" is. The graphics are crap. Really, just look at Darth Vader's Cape and Lightsaber! But Pandemic has done the same thing the makers of Guild Wars are doing: making an old graphics engine look like a new awesome graphics engine by adding really simple additions that make the objects and players look much smoother and sweeter. I'm running the game at 1152X768 with EVERYTHING on high, and I've yet to experience one BIT of slowdown.

The very first time you play a round, and you've played the E3 For Everyone Guild Wars event, you will know exactly what I'm typing about when I refer to the graphics being soft. Even if you didn't play the E3 Event, you can easily see that the player models look "soft" and they almost seem to glow.

Side Note: There's a Full Spectrum Warrior demo on Fileplanet. Play the first training level and you can see that the target on the roof has this blue glow around him and the building when put up against the sky, making his look much better than he would be without that graphical softness.

More on Graphics. Pandemic knows what's up. Gameplay. They allowed the cutscenes - clips from the movies - to be put in the lowest quality file as possible. Why? Who cares about some fancy-ass cutscene? The movie files take NO time to load, and even at the quality level they are at, they're still cool (they only set the atmosphere such as on Tatooine, the clip is of Han Solo running to the Falcon being chased by Troopers in a New Hope, it looks low-quality, like a bad Pirated copy, but still looks cool all the same).

This game is poison and crack and candy and love and hate all in the same syringe.

Mercenaries is going to be very similar. Except with a Free-Roaming Single Player thing that has become the latest fad after GTAIII came out.

Addition!

Third Person is almost like cheating, its so good. Your field of view is twice as big, you can peek around corners without being around them yourself, and you can see if a grenade just landed next to you. As well, its much cooler to see your character jumping and rolling and shooting. I tried First person, and I somehow became nauseous trying to aim at the enemy (sensitivity is different between views, I've mine set to be perfect for me in third, it moves way too fast in first).

Rolling like a Droideka. If you're running sideways and you jump, your character will lunge to the side and hops back up to his feet at full running speed. Diving, as I call it, is faster than running (only slightly, though the sniper runs as fast as all other soldiers roll and his roll is ever faster!) if you have to get somewhere fast, roll sideways!

Ewoks are friggin' hilarious.

The Rebel marksman (female) doesn't have a voice.

The Recon Droid no longer has the ability to call an orbital strike, and if it does I sure don't know how to use it.

This game absolutely whips the llamas *ss :)

Wicked fun.

And the DVDs? Oh man what an improvement. I wanted to watch star wars in good quality for sooooo long, especially 7.1 sound just makes it so completely different. The quality actually looks better than a lot of new movies that were released this year :)

Ok, seeing as everyone is all "ooh, this game rocks" and crap - I'm going to rag on it for a bit.

Overall, I like the game and I think it has a lot of potential, but....

1) ServerBrowser sucks ass hard. It doesn't show the real ping. You can't sort by map. You have a hard time getting to just double-click on a server, and instead have to rely on your mouse wheel to navigate the list. There is no buddylist or find friend search option. You have to refresh all of the servers, instead of just one. No favorites? What gives there? And you are limited in detailed server info to what they give you at the bottom of the screen, which isn't much. If I try to join a server, and the server is magically full (even though everytime you refresh it, it still says 45/50), it kicks me back out to "Join or Create a Game".

2) Balance - Den and I chatted a little about this last night. He says that he has found this to be one of the most balanced games he has ever played. I honestly haven't played enough to dispute this, but last night when BadAsh, Dick and I were on, Imperials won every time (with teams being randomized). Makes me wonder....

3) Dying quick sucks......I know in other games, when you get in an engagement, you die quick as well. Last night though, I seemed to be getting waxed without having a clue I was even underfire or taking damage. I would get to a spot, then maybe I'd get the quick little red indicator showing I got shot followed almost immediately by the death animation.

Like I said before, I think the game has a lot of potential and I will be playing it (I think...), but I do think there is room for improvement.....
