ok... soo... spent the entire weekend moving my ass into my basement. previously i had both my computers hooked up to router with cables, and now i have my comp hooked up with cable and the upstairs comp connecting thru wireless.
i had a problem when moving- every time i tried to install my old wireless adapter (usb) it would cause my computer to restart whenever i plugged it in (after the drivers were installed)... i got f'kn fed up with it so i got a new one and fixed my problems... anyone know why the hell it was doing that? - oh and i tried installing that adapter on both computers and it restarted them both- got newer drivers off the internet after geting rid of the old ones but still made it restart (was a netgear adapter)
anyways... now that i finally have both comps connected to the internet, i want to have them networked together again- but i'm really not sure where i'm going wrong? i've got the drives shared on the old computer like i always had- nothing changed between the two computer except that the old one now is on wireless.... i never changed any previous settings (it worked fine before the upstairs one went to wireless)....
anyone have any ideas what i'm doing wrong here? - are there any provisions i need make for a network to work with the wireless old computer?

what Netgear router? because i have a Netgear one and it sucks ass, i phoned up the helpline things and they said it was my PC so i gave the router back and got a replacement which works fine

The wireless adapter that restarted your computers was bad. Hardware wise.
As far as sharing files, be careful you are not sharing C:\ to the internet. This would be patently bad.
Have you tried the networking 101 things like pinging eachother and other such stuff? Are both computers public or private addresses? or a mix of the two?
Run ipconfig on both and make sure your 2 computers are on the same plane.

Im assuming since they were already hooked up together before, that you are aware of the type of cable needed (cross over between 2 PCs). Are both computers under the same workgroup? I dunno, Im just asking the basics to make sure you havent missed anything.
