Brand new servers and free play.

Post by Imperil »

Just figured I would post to let people know. Camelot recently opened 3 new servers and took out the TOA time-sink and ability to buff-bot.

Any accounts are able to log in and have a free 14 day play of the game if anybody is interested. A few of the changes since I last played have been the run speed, regen rates++, and obviously most notably the server type.

I picked up the Catacombs expansion and oh man, it's just sick. You can do instanced 'tasks' the whole way up to 50 and there are various huge instance areas, etc. The leveling is pretty much nothing now, as I hit 12 with a melee in a couple hours playing last night and didn't die once... just doing solo missions. And with no TOA level 50 is 50.. it's all PvP from there.

The new servers are just packed full with people returning from WoW after the huge PvP flop there so there is tons of action. There are battlegrounds the whole way up while you level so if you want to get some RPs or level from PvP it's no problem.

Anyways I'm playing on Gareth if anybody wants to log in and play for free with me lol :) There is also a free 14-day trial available for anybody that has never played the game but would like to check it out.

EDIT: Somebody at work asked this so I figured I would post the answer.

NO you do not need to give a credit card or any information to have your free 14 day reactivation, you can just log in.

Hehe, I don't know who you've been listening to, but believe me, WoW PvP is definately no flop. In fact, now with the 1.6 it's as sweet as ever. As far as DAoC goes, it would be interesting to see what changes they've made, but DAoC always seems too refined and stiff.

Just going off the stats we purchased from Blizzard actually :) There has been a huge surge of subscribers but since Battlegrounds was released a tremendous amount of cancellations have been occurring and they state it was due to 'player conflict with the new rulesets' and they are actively looking to fix it :)

I couldn't tell you anything about WoW PvP as I have never tried it myself, other than the rush of people back to old games and the small reports I've had to go through. Every second post back on DAoC, SB, AC, etc message boards is 'WoW PvP is so horrible so I'm going to play here again'.

WoW has to be the single-best thing that has happened in the MMO market in years. They brought in so many non-MMO players and they are starting to slowly dispurse throughout the market. Which is why I've had to go over a lot of these stupid reports at work as everybody is trying to measure when the best time to jump in is.

And PooMonkey.. log in and play, let's go kill some dudes on the new server. It's so much better with a fresh start compared to when we started on a 3 1/2 year old server.

I would bet that it's not the introduction of Battlegrounds that did it. It's the honor system. I'd go more into it, but I'm eating......a man has his priorities you know.

I would agree with Arch. Battlegrounds is a great concept (although it does need a bit of fine tuning), but Honor System is what messed everything up.
