RE: Free New FPS
Also, not to hijack your thread, Mid, but they are going to start allowing people to play Planetside for a year for free. Of course, there's limitations, but hell....free Planetside.
RE: Free New FPS
oo planetside how ive missed you....
RE: Free New FPS
I've played Kuma|War during it's inception back when it first started, and it wasn't too bad. Fast forward to about three months ago when I remembered it, and played that one episode about the "Kerry Swift Boat"... and the game felt like crap, not a change to anything in years (if anything, it felt worse). Also the interface for the game launcher pissed me off.
But... I've heard of the free Planetside thing for a while now, and never found out anything about it...
Except for this "Return to Planetside" event that ended December 31st. Even if I was around to see it, I no longer have my hotmail account the login was tied to.
I really want to play Planetside again, I'd probably kick ass now that my system is not bare-minimum when we were all playing.
Hey, what do ya know, Crevan still exists on Markov.

RE: Free New FPS
More about the free PlanetSide program:
Shacknews wrote: PlanetSide News
New players will be able to download the PlanetSide “Cannon Fodder†demo and will be able to play for free through Battle Rank 6. Once they complete BR 6, they will be able to continue to play the game, but will not progress to Battle Rank 7, On exit from the game, they will be taken to a website that will allow them to upgrade to a monthly subscription, which includes the base game, the expansion pack (Core Combat) and the Battle Frame Robotics (BFRs), the giant robot units. Depending on skill, it can take a player up to 30 days to complete BR 6, which will give them plenty of time to see many of the cool aspects of the game. Additionally, players can continue on in the game at Battle Rank 6 for the entire 12 month promotion period.
This program is still in the works, and we have not locked down an official launch date as of yet, but is something that we hope to have live in the next few months.
Additionally, all current PS players will be given an upgrade to Aftershock, meaning those last few holdouts in the PlanetSide community will finally be able to head underground to the cave system of Core Combat and begin the quest to pilot their very own walking tank.
For those who cannot wait for the program to begin, you can check out PlanetSide with our currently running demo, the “Recruit a Buddy†program, which offers 10 days of free gameplay. The link to the program is on the upper right side of the page.

PlanetSide: Aftershock can also be purchased digitally from SOE’s Station Store:
