Ok I am a welder, remember this point thru-out this post. I bought a suit. it is taupe, which the dictionary calls a brownish gray, to my untrained eye this is a sharp suit, ok I have a white shirt, taupe tie, now the question is twofold; 1. what color shoes should I wear? B. what color belt?

Wow....I never thought I would get to use my extensive knowledge as a suit salesman for 4 years to help the guild....
Rule #1 - your shoes and belt color should always match, so if you pick one color for one it's for both.
Rule #2 - black does go with everything, so you can wear black just fine.
That being said, I would probably go with brown with a taupe suit. I'm also a big fan of cordavan which is that reddish-black color you see on shoes and belts, which does go with almost everything as well. If this is the only suit you're going to wear, get brown shoes. If you have multiple suits and/or dress slacks of different colors (not just other shades of brown) that you need these shoes to go with - get black.
Just my 2 cents....

I thought brown when I read the post, so i agree with arch... that being said, I am sure you will wear black because nobody ever takes my advice around here lol!
RE: fashion question
have you considered a black shirt? i wear a taupe top with my black suit. it may work the other way around, too. could pull things together more if you decide to go with the black shoes & belt.
RE: fashion question
ahhhhh head swirling. this would be easier if I was going to be buried in the damned thing, then someone else would have to pick the crap out for me. I have black belt and shoes, I will probably by brown belt and shoes to try it on. thanks all

My 2 cents would be cordavan! That would look sharp and complete the "earthy tone" of the outfit.Archangelus wrote:Wow....I never thought I would get to use my extensive knowledge as a suit salesman for 4 years to help the guild....
