Blizzard predictions?
Blizzard predictions?
On May 19th, Blizzard will be announcing a new game.
What are your guesses? Starcraft 2? Diablo III? Warcraft IV? World Of Starcraft?
I'm going to go with Starcraft 2 (RTS)

RE: Blizzard predictions?
World of starcraft doesnt seem like a smart move, with WOW and all.
Hopefully Diablo or starcraft....

RE: Blizzard predictions?
I've been reading speculations for about a week now, and if I remember correctly, someone had found a job posting on Blizzard for a programmer (or something along those lines) to work on a next-gen MMO. Most people assumed this meant a Starcraft MMO. On the other hand, they are announcing this in Korea, whos players still play the old Starcraft RTS.
My guess is that it's Starcraft. I'm leaning towards a RTS sequel, but I won't rule out a MMO because Blizzard has made a shit-ton of cash with WoW. If they go that route though, it won't be a World of Strarcraft. It would have to be in a different genre of MMO so that it wouldn't directly compete with WoW.
I'd personally like a Diablo III. But that's because I suck at RTSs

RE: Blizzard predictions?
Well, UM is dead on with the speculations. It's pretty much guaranteed that with the announcement being in Korea, it's going to be something with the StarCraft IP. A couple articles have floated around that reputible sources within Blizzard have confirmed that it's World of Starcraft. I honestly don't believe that. I think many have extracted from the job listings that Merc mentioned and have ignored the fact that months ago, Blizzard was hiring for RTS developers.

Here's what I think is going down....
Blizzard has announced that there is going to be two games announced this year with the first being revealed on May 19th. I predict that will be StarCraft 2 - not World of StarCraft (which if it did happen would be a MMORTS, not an MMORPG to reduce competition with WoW). The second game that will be announced at the end of this year will be Diablo III, but with a twist. It will be an MMO (or have an MMO component much like the upcoming Hellgate: London which is created by the original Diablo/Diablo II creators that left Blizzard when WoW was announced).
Just my two shiny pennies, but I'm so confident, I'm ready to upgrade those to nickles. (I'll have to spawn more overlords for that though.....)

Yeah, that sounds pretty accurate Arch. But I forgot to mention that I read somewhere that Starcraft Ghost isn't completely vaporware (apparently you can still pre-order it lol). So that's another possibility, although not as likely as Starcraft 2.

You must construct additional pylons.
You must construct additional pylons.

You must gather your party before venturing forth.

I dunno. It appears to be much slower. Hopefully it doesn't include the crap from Warcraft III.

Yeah, I'm hoping they don't try and do the heroes thing.
Other than that, I'm pretty stoked.

RE: Blizzard predictions?
The only thing I'd look forward to in this game are the CGI cut scenes. They always kick ass!

You guys are on crack. Warcraft 3 was the shiznit. Heroes were a great addition.
