That's why the ancient art of advertising is tainted. The best parts are shown, and the parts they didn't show from the movie must not be putting the product in a good light.
Ads show the whole plot, all the interesting parts, none of the boring or bad parts. Why bothering sitting around for two hours when you just got the gist of everything in about ninety seconds combined?
What if, back in the 70s, they revealed "NO, I AM YOUR FATHER" in the ads, like they did with "LORD VADER, RISE" now? The most critical part of the story is ruined, even if it was obvious.
Today's advertising 'agencies' wouldn't know how to hold a dog's interest without giving them a big piece of steak.
