Post by b.p.c. »

woke up and after a few min i went into the usual cod4 dm server i always go into, i clicked join and went to the bathroom while it loaded, well 30 seconds later my entire in game desktop freezes with this matrix-multicolor screen, where everything is frozen and distorted. i tried everything possible and safe mode works ok, but in normal mode, after a couple seconds the matrix thing comes on and my monitor shuts itself off automaticly.... i dont know what else to do.

if you have another computer in the house.. try hooking up the monitor to that machine to see if its the problem

if not.. could just be overheating problems.. how often do you blow the dust out of your case... and do you have your video card fan speed cranked up?.... hopefully its as simple as that

i dont know how to crank the fan up, dell support did tests on the phone and the hardware passed all tests, so ill try to dust the case up some.

The only time I ever saw this was when my In-game resolution was jacked up higher than my monitor could handle, and this was back in the SOF2 days.

yeah it's a hardware issue, so they're having a technician come out here to make sure its not just 1 problem. so i'll be on IR til sometime next week. thank you for the info. my mother's co-worker had dell give her a brand new computer because the one she had was maybe around a day old and tanked on her.
