PHX Site Updates

As the new site is nearing release, I'd like to know the answers to a couple questions, if you have an opinion on them.

1) Is there anything the site currently doesn't have/do that you wish it did? More updates? General gaming news? Shoutbox? Anything that maybe you saw on another site in general and thought "damn, that's cool...."

2) Is there anything we currently have on our site that you frankly could do without? Not necessarily something that you hate, but it could be something that you frankly just don't use.

3) Any other comments in general? I think what you like and what you don't like pretty much covers it, but I'm always open for suggestions/comments.

I look at our site as the face to the world, so of course, I want it to look good. I don't know if you remember the first time you came to our site, especially some of you old timers, but a few years ago we were probably on the cutting edge of Guild Websites offering numerous features such as Flash Games, Ventrilo Status, Game Server Status, Webmail, Galleries, etc... You don't have to go far now though to see sites that make ours look "blah". While "who we are" is the main facet in recruiting, I can tell you that if I saw a crappy site (that hasn't had any updated news since April 29, 2007), I probably wouldn't be banging down the door to join.

Can't seem to edit my post... anyways, there are a couple things I noticed. Our news section should really be updated by other gaming sites (using RSS, right?) with new articles. I suggest checking out www.gametab.com They provide links to gaming articles from multiple sites.

Also, there seems to be some personal menu on the left frame below the flash scores. I have no idea what that's for.

I think somewhere on the front page, there needs to be some form of description of our guild. Things like the type of members we have, the community atmosphere, what games we typically play, etc.

I don't have any suggestions on how to change the site layout, but I think that the gray scale background grid needs to go. I find it hard on the eyes sometimes. There must be some better alternatives.

Anyways, that's all I have at the moment.

I'll admit - the last time the site crashed, I never really got the site back to where it used to be...

When we had a shoutbox, it began getting flooded by advertisement bots.
When that was taken down, the adbots started posting on the Flash Game comments.
