If you or whoever frequents websites that usually slip ads into their videos (to keep the service going), such as FOX or CBS or Hulu showing full episodes of series, you'll often need to disable the HOSTS file.

I used to use AVG Free for AV. I just use my router's firewall to protect all my systems, if you have one.
