Rise of Nations

Post by XoR »

Ok, this is all Dorn's fault.

He told me that Rise of Nations was basically one of the best RTS out there. So I picked it up.

MAN ... one of the best? I'm sorry, it's THE best, end of story. Any company thinking of releasing a RTS in the next year should just save themselves the grief and pull the plug, because it ain't gonna touch this one.

What can I say? A RTS that finally does everything sooo right.

Thanks Dorn!

I agree. I also have it.

It may be the best REALISTIC RTS ever, like compared to Age of Empires and the like....but I still love Starcraft more. Just because of it's lasting appeal online.

But you're right, it's simply wow.

Me too....I'll download the demo too. There's a guy who works here that raves about it. I try to keep one fps, one mmorpg, and one rts in my repotoire, and I am short an RTS right now (StarCraft will never leave)....oh and BTW, there is a rumor from a significant source that StarCraft 2 will be announced at ECTS this fall. Keep your eyes open!

Yeah i have it as well, the only thing, i wish i can host a game online, all of my friends have firewall routers as well as I!

i play full version (i love mIRC)

one of the best RTS games i have played is C&C: RA2, there was great competition in Comand & Conquer : Red Alert 2, to the point where i played it for 2 years straight. Westwood Studios aka Electronic Arts now, made a good game, too bad they didnt pay too mutch attention to the patching and getting rid of cheaters )=.

but R.O.N. is definatly a good game, it is a crossbreed between age of empires and Sid Myers Civilization III.

any1 here not have a router and able to create games? if so my MSN is Thrasher1237@hotmail.com

You can check this http://ron.heavengames.com/faq/router/

It's poorly written, so you may or may not get results.

I'm not sure what brand of router you have but read up on DMZ's and port redirection in your manual.

Just about anything is possible with port redirection.

Good luck!

When if first played RON I thought it was a cool game. After playing it for a couple of weeks, I found that it wasn't that good. I played and still play EE AOC (empire earth: Art of Conquest) nad i think that game is much better. Here is why i don't like RON.

1. Pop limit sucks
2. You can only launch a certain number of nuclear bombs before armegeddon.
3. Maps are too small
4. You can't control your aircraft properly.

Well i am sure i could make a few more points, but after all these are only my opinions.
