Not yet, probably this weekend.....

And for Poo's benefit - you can go to HardOCP.com and read the article titled "id's Official Doom3 Benchmarks". You'll find this paragraph on the front page:
HardOCP wrote: For those of you that think you are not going to have the hardware that you need to play DOOM 3, the fact of the matter is that many of you will be just fine, although an upgrade may still be in your future. As of this afternoon we were playing DOOM 3 on a 1.5GHz Pentium 4 box with a GeForce 4 MX440 video card and having a surprisingly good gaming experience. Even a subtle jump to an AMD 2500+ with a GeForce 3 video card that is two years old will deliver a solid gaming experience that will let you enjoy the game the way id Software designed it to be. That fact alone should let many of you know that you will not be left behind in experiencing DOOM 3.

And yet I'll bet the game will get bad public reviews only because the kids on granny's computer hate how crappy it runs. I saw a "gameplay demo" sent to fileplanet by some random guy, and either he was using a weak video capture tool or he was going at about five-ten fps, average.

Good thing I live where I live. Not many people around here are gaming-savvy, so that game store I ride three miles to on bike usually has the game in stock. Maybe I'll get Doom3 by the end of the week.

Yeah, that guy was probably running a low-to-mid-range graphics card with everything cranked. Even id says that while you can play it on lower end graphics cards, you have to make some quality sacrifices to get the performance.

there are apparently some nice performance tweaks that can be set. check www.planetdoom.com forums for the tweaks, I'm gonna try them out tonight. I played the game for a couple of hours last night and I have to say they did good on atmosphere in this game, it is dark as hell and you HAVE to use the flashlight to see where you are going, then when you turn a corner with the flashlight up are face to face with a zombie, scares the crap outta me and now I'm always expecting something to jump out at me, then when I'm not expecting it something jumps out at me. LOL

I tried the multiplayer a bit last night and it is a lot more fast-paced than I expected, it does resemble old-school doom deathmatch which is cool. have already seen servers with up to 16 players on them too.

I "borrowed" it today to give it a try. So far, I've went through 3 pairs of boxers lol. You're right Bad, the atmosphere is really scary. You're lucky if you get any source of light other than your flashlight, you constantly get feedback on your radio from people getting eaten, and theres always something that will make you uncomfortable wherecver you go.

This is not a game for the faint of heart.

Surprisingly, it doesn't run too badly on my comp. I had to turn down pretty much all the good stuff, but it was worth the improvement in performance. In my opinion, this game has by-far the best special effects and environnement I have seen in a video game. Ever.

Im gonna go check those tweaks and maybe give multiplayer a shot tonight.

Throw me into the pit as well, stopped by Best Buy ...

Played into it about 3 hours and I am VERY impressed.

I can't remember being so blown away by a game to be honest.

DAMN
