Oh my god talk about the most garbage server browser in the world! lol I'm sitting there trying to get into a server but can't click because they are all jiggling around and such.

Although being a server browser, it will most likely go through many revisions during it's lifetime.

2) Balance - Den and I chatted a little about this last night. He says that he has found this to be one of the most balanced games he has ever played. I honestly haven't played enough to dispute this, but last night when BadAsh, Dick and I were on, Imperials won every time (with teams being randomized). Makes me wonder....
I dunno dude, I played about 12-15 matches and I would guess imperials only won about half the time, it really depended on who was on the team. There are a lot of people that suck hard because they are not regular fps players, or are just swg players. Remember a lot of people will buy it and play it this first week just because they are star wars fans, even if they suck hard.
3) Dying quick sucks......I know in other games, when you get in an engagement, you die quick as well. Last night though, I seemed to be getting waxed without having a clue I was even underfire or taking damage. I would get to a spot, then maybe I'd get the quick little red indicator showing I got shot followed almost immediately by the death animation.
I won crazy awards :)

22 - 9
31 - 12

I was doing the best I ever have rofl! Depends on the map though really, some maps I was only 1:1 ratio, mostly the small scale ones.

Like I said before, I think the game has a lot of potential and I will be playing it (I think...), but I do think there is room for improvement.....
Server browser especially, I would do anything for a new server browser. In my opinion the game is really balanced with awesome gameplay.. but obviously I agree there is room for improvement.

Sure sure, there's always something crappy about a game. It's hard to be completely objective that early in the game though. And if majority of the impressions are this game is cool, then generally we can live with the flaws.

But, it's good to throw them out there.

I totally freaking agree with the browser for servers being the most frustrating lame ass thing ever. You have to chase the server you want up and down the list for 5 minutes before you can click on the damned thing. If it's full or needs a password or whatever the situation may be, you have to start all over again. Also, the lack of favorites in particular is a pain in the ass.

Point two with that: I haven't been able to figure out how to see what server I'm on once I'm playing it. So if Imperil was to come in and ask where I'm playing, I have no freaking clue and after looking at a giant list of server names I don't remember which one I picked. So not only is he unable to do a buddy search and just find me, but I can't always tell him where I am.

I personally haven't had so much issue with balance. It depends, though often the Imperials do seem to have the most obvious advantage. Rebel uprisings do often get the shit end of the stick, so while that may be realistic and follow with the movie, it's kinda a pain in the ass when no rebels get a light saber to balance it out.

Dying quick tends to be dependant on whether you A get shot in the head or B someone is using a rocket launcher on you instead of the vehicles (much like getting panzered in COD) or C someone is using the turrets and gets a lucky shot on you (since they are sorta hard to hit things with).

Of course, it wouldn't be very realistic if you could stand back up after being hit in the forehead with a rocket now would it?

The fact that sometimes, in a less unfair fight, you can get your butt to a droid and fix up I find makes up for some of the faster deaths in other situations.

okay, a few things I would like to add.

1. Yes server browser sucks ass. Much as I hate it, I now use gamespy arcade to find servers to join. If we all add each other to our buddy lists on there we can easily join the server the other person is in, can also mark servers as favourites in Arcade.

2. As far as balance goes it is pretty good, the only thing I can see that seems unbalanced is the imperials have the atat's/atst's and the rebels don't really have any counter to those. ATAT's take a crapload of rockets to take down and in the meantime they can just massacre tons of rebels.

3. Good teamwork will be a HUGE advantage in this game. Most of the fighting on servers right now is chaotic and scattered, but on one or two of the servers I played on last night there were a few small squads running around and wtfpwning everything they came across.

4. The game has quite a few bugs like I was afraid of, but is good enough to look past them and still have a blast.

5. Unless your a sniper you should always be moving, especially in up close combat. And try and lead your target just slightly when firing...at least that seemed to work for me.

I will probably install that thing tonight and check out how it is.

I know you had the issue of not having the server we were playing on show in your list.. which is messed up.. but what other bugs did you run into?

definately.

"Oh dear, we believe that the many thralls Lucas has gained from the latest movies are too daft to understand that 'ping' is very important, and also that a lower number is better! What should we do?"
"I know! We'll explain it in the instruction book!"
"Do you want us to look like jackasses? No."
"Then... Let's do what they did back in 1996 and instead of a number, we'll have this little bar in the ping section that goes from red to green showing the server latency! Only an idiot would not understand that!"
"Then we'll have a problem."
"You got any better ideas?"
"No."

I've yet to see a pilot other than myself even attempt to get a TOW cable around the legs of an ATAT. Perhaps I'm the only one who knows they exist, but I don't see how hard it would be to take down one of those mofos'.

Hoth, there's about... twenty-plus cannons and turrets that are strewn along the Rebel defense wall. And four T37s. That is more than enough to take them out. The legs on the ATAT are the weak spots, concentrated cannon fire would destroy it quickly.

Rhen Var Civil War, the Imperials get one ATAT and the Rebels have very little to do against it. Except... get some vanguards and marksmen to blow his legs off. If six guys composed of vanguards and marskmen attacked all at once with rockets and orbital strikes, the ATAT would be down in about fifteen seconds.

Lmao this is true...about the cables. I know this first hand (thank you Den). The catch is that you have to make sure you drive the thing pretty close to the legs otherwise they can look down and blow you up. If you get in tight, there's not a damned thing they can do but sit there and watch the little red ship icon go around and around and wait for their doom.

I only used a vehicle in the last 5 minutes of playing last night anyways, so tonight I'll have to try them all out.

The only other bug I found was in single player with my EAX turned on, I get a repeating blaster-fire sound that never stops. but I blame that more on the creative fucktards and their shitty drivers than anything, also if I turn on AntiAliasing the game crashes frequently, too bad cause at 4x AA I still get like 60 fps with all other settings on high. I was reading today how to get the grappler to work on the snow speeders, you need a second pilot in it to fire the thing, but that still doesn't help on maps that don't have the speeders.

Did you try updating drivers?

You should theoretically smoke me with your system, and I was playing with AA and Ansio getting 50-60fps with no crashes at all man.

yup...just got the latest 4.9 catalyst drivers...didn't help....turning off AA fixes the problem

I have been reading of similar problems with other people, and not just limited to ATI cards, I believe it is a bug of some kind.

ugh that sucks.. I found the difference between AA/Ansio and not using them in that game is all the difference in the world, looks like a whole new game.

I bet if you played around with driver revisions you would find one that works, but who knows if its a revision that breaks another game you have installed :)

EDIT: I just checked two forums where people has pretty much the same crash issue. It's driver related and they swiched from using the bunk drivers to the Omega drivers and are running high AA/Ansio with 9700 mobiles getting 50-80fps.

With Omega drivers instead of the ATI drivers I bet you can run AA/Ansio and get over 80fps man, considering the 9700 desktop performs a LOT better than the mobile.

I agree that balance is not *too bad*

I agree server browser sucks, add to that you have to reconnect after every match, I have been on a server, map ended, hit done and "server full" what bs is that.

If you die quick it is because they are trying to take that base, yes it sucks but you cant call them spawn campers, they are trying to take an objective (unless one guy in a heavy vehicle sits there for 10 minutes killing all spawners, but you should learn after the second insta kill to go to another spawn site).

I like that one person cant be "the reason" a team wins, takes teamwork to the n'th degree, much like tribes vengance *hint hint*

I do NOT like not being able to change weapon loadouts, I want blaster rifle and jump jets, or sniper and jump jets!

All and all the single player I give an 8 and the multiplayer I give a 6.5 .... mostly because people suck at the game atm and because getting onto a server SUCKS
