In your price range I would wait a month until the 6800s are in stores everywhere.. than grab a 5700U or 5900 for about $150-200 CDN. I bought my pre-nerf FX5900 from TigerDirect and they still actually have a few for sale, you can grab them for $320CDN.

In all honesty, what I enjoyed most about CoD was all of us playing, laughing and having a good time.

Sadly, I never got into CoD like I wanted to. People cheat and use dots on there screens while I struggle with bullshit crosshairs and can't hit anything because I refuse to use crutches. Team Deathmatch was a blast and I almost always could command a positive ratio, but retrieval is simlpy TERRIBLE for gameplay for people that just want to have fun a couple of nights a week. You get one shot and there you sit for 5-10 minutes. I really hate all one kill/wait games. I played DOOM and Quake too much and old habits die hard.

JO is my new game and I am very happy to dump CoD retrieval to the yard dogs with a good riddance wave.

As far as choppiness goes, I didn't notice it even at full blast ... with 75 people ... but I score ~5800 on 3Dmark2k3 ... I would be curious to hear what people that complain about the graphics get on 3Dmark.

I wasn't able to get to the store to pick up the full version today.. but I'm pretty sure Badash was. I'm shopping tommorrow so I'm gonna grab it when I'm at the mall, so I'll be playin with ya soon Xor =]

I score 8097 in 3DMark03 when I have my components OC'd, and 7159 when I am running at normal clock speeds, and I don't even notice a hiccup while playing JO.

And I totally agree with you Xor.. I've played some really crap games but they were fun playing with everyone and talkin on vent. The one thing I just can't stand in a game is cheaters.. and the Q3A engine is so old now, that there are just way too many cheats out there.

Is the 3dMark a program that you download or buy? i'd like to see how our machine would do.

You can take Imperils advice and wait until the new Nvidias come out full force thereby cutting the 5900 down in price.

But with an 8500, you're really up sh*t creek with JO due to what midnight posted.

If ~50 bucks more isn't that big of a deal to get a 5900 or 9800 now, then go for it ...

Oh, just a note from your old uncle Arch - think Ebay.

1) For buying a new card, it's a good option.
2) Sell your existing 8500 there for some extra fundage for your new card.

They are going for about $50 USD, so tack that on top of what you are willing to spend and you can get a better card.

Also, I must say I did have a lot of fun playing JO in between all the time I set aside for cursing. 8-)

I just wish I didn't die so much.....Oh well, still out on whether I'll buy it or not seeing I have self-imposed time restrictions now. Too many games, and I'll never get anything done.....
