NWN: Hordes of Underdark

Post by DenKirson »

"Holy crap". The Hordes of Underdark expansion makes Neverwinter Nights seem like a new game, mainly due to the big kick up in visuals.

No longer do your characters exist without a sky... or ceilings. Also, robes/skirts are in fashion, no more pants! Well... there are still pants. Characters are FAR more customizable than before, where you could only change your head, hair and body color, now you can pick dozens of specific decals, markings and whatnot to a character who can be so unique, there's a scant chance of someone having a duplicate (looking) character. Also, I believe that the cap on level twenty characters has been raised to fourty or fifty with new "Epic" levels.

I could go on to explain everything else, but it'd be best to look it up at Neverwinternights.com (the Bioware sites were down as of making this post, they're changing the server hosting the websites).

DMIC, Toast and someone else plays as well. There is already a Vent channel setup for NWN if needed.

My favorite new weapon: Whip!

Now alls I need is a good Webley revolver, a fine leather jacket and trademark fedora...

Also, Dragon Disciples kick ass.

Rock on! NWN freak right here! Im getting it for X-mas as well. It definitly looks much, MUCH better than the Undrentide Expansion. I fo sho will want to join you Ash in beating the campaign. And I agree with Den; the Dragon Disciple looks pretty beasty.

The Draconic Feats and Spells own...

I mean pwn.

In that sense, Deekin, the cool little mascot-like, book-writing kobold that first appeared in SoU pwns. He's an epic Bard/Dragon Disciple with Red dragon wings. He's single-handedly saved my magic-less Weapon Master ass with his Dragon powers on several ocassions.

I've also made a whole bunch of new custom items/weapons/tools in my "Storage House" Module with all the new options in the toolset (Maybe I should make some PHX thingies...). Hm, too many things on the floor, should tidy things up...

You like doing that too Den? Creating new siuts of armor and weapons is a kickass feature of the toolset. I myself am creating a module with all custo chars, weapons, armor, etc. Not really a playable module, just a something visual for a fantasy story I sorta made up.

Hell, If I knew/learned some NWN Scripting, I could start working on my After Alabaster: Blue Sands Module (I've already made the whole story). But with only knowledge of the things that had buttons, I've made "Phoenix Weapons". All Melee weapons have Keen, a (5m) Dim Red Light and a fire effect without the Fire damage (Level 4 Requirement). Ranged weapons simply have Infinite Ammo (Level 5). Then I have three sets of clothing for every armor class (Cloth, light, heavy), all of which give a +2 AC bonus (Level 3). I'm gonna make Expansion Level Phoenix stuff (15+) later, and even ones with a level 40 requirement.

I was also planning on making a special "Phoenix Ring" (It would revive you instantly with half health at the cost of a "MANS" if you had one, like how the focus stone brings you back to the temple in the original NWN campaign, except raise you instantly without sending you anywhere) but in order to do what I want it to, it would need to be scripted, and therefore would only work on whatever mod had the script in it. So now the ring simply has Regeneration +1 (Level 4 requirement, I'm thinking of putting something else on it, like infinite Magic Missile (3) or infinite Electric Jolt (1) which would bring it to 7 or so).

But besides making custom-looking items in the toolset, they've allowed Crafting skills in the game, I can alter a Leather Armor +1 to look like a robe, or make it look entirely like a shiny golden suit of armor, and it'll still say "Leather Armor +1". Really good on those multiplayer servers that don't allow premade characters.

You can also make weapons/armor/traps/wands/scrolls by finding materials to make components, then components to make armor, traps or weapons (Only need a wand/scroll and the spell you want to imbue them). Though the weapons cannot have any permanent enchantment stuff put into them by you, I think (Though you can get permanent enchantments in Chapter 2 of XP2 from a drow weaponsmith. I pumped up the hell out of a normal katana and with Enhancement +10, Keen, Regen +2 and a whole buncha other things, and it still had a Level One requirement).

-----

Hm, I gotta see the outcome of a Level 40 Fighter against a Weapon Master 20/Fighter 20.

There's Den Kirson in heavy Phoenix Armor with a Phoenix Foil (rapier) doing the Whirlwind attack. If the image is still an X, my website provider is acting up.

I made a Misc. Small Item called LOLOL with the description "OMG LOLOL U PIKD UP THIS ITEM!?1 HAHAH U SUK". If you pick it up, you'll get an extra 300lbs in your bag, and its undroppable. That's a much nastier suprise than a trap.
