BATTLEFIELD 2 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The award-winning Battlefield franchise invades the high tech frontlines of modern warfare in the new sequel, Battlefield 2â„¢. The game brings the intensity and excitement of Battlefield 1942â„¢ into the modern era with enhanced team play and the latest, most technologically advanced vehicles and weapons systems available to man.

In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game’s 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 64 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to rise through the ranks and attain the ultimate rank of General.

An all-new game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons’ ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle- to-player ratio and an optimized gameplay experience.

Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.

Soldier kits now affect vehicles that players utilize on the battlefield. For instance, the medic kit can transform a vehicle into a mobile aid station and the support kit can make helicopters into flying ammo dumps.

Ok, my two cents on this, and I know that you'll give both of those pennies back to me. I didn't play Battlefield 1 because I thought the graphics and overall game play, compared to COD, were worse. I just did not like the game. Vehicles hold no thrill for me really, and UO helped to confirm that. Yeah, tanks and jeeps were fun in the beginning, but then they became a nuisance and I really did like the smaller boards. Choppers add a slight interest, in the fact that you can do quick tactical strikes, but I don't think that's going to be enough to warrant my attention. If the game is anything like Joint Ops, which I personally felt was horrendous, then it's a resounding no.

I guess I'm going to need to see some reviews on it, some footage and what you guys think, more than just "this game roxrz ur boxrz" type response. Just as an aside, is there any news/ development on the COD map we're making?

There was no battlefield 1. It was Battlefield 1942 (they skipped 1939 games in the series!), and it came out way back in 1999. Or 2000. BF'Nam came out near the same time COD came out, and the graphics, if settings were put to the absolute maximum, were much better (though I set mine to absolute lowest except for view distance related ones for best experience).

BF2 is going to have more advantageous (easier) means of taking out those punk tank and chopper guys, to the satisfaction of us good ol' infantry (And me! A man! Of the sea!). If we stick together in a squad with differing classes, vehicles will be of no worry. All classes get points for what they do, so I'll always be an engineer with the wrench-fu (sometimes switching to SpecOps), so if we get a dedicated Anti-Tank, Medic, Assault, and Support (in order of necessity) to form a squad, we'll be kixoringz some boxrz.

'Zall about teamwork. I liked the Joint Ops Demo when Cooler was sniping and I was spotting for him. If we get a flexable crew to stick together instead of splitting up like we do in COD (since we all fit the same role of "shooting other peoples guy"), it'll be hella enjoyable. Just like WoW and Guild Wars with different classes needed to make a well-rounded group.

I'm pretty skeptical of the Battlefield franchise, but if the game lives up to Den's hype, if enough of us buy and play it, and if I have any time and/or cash, I might end up hopping on the bandwagon.

Hype? The only thing I'm looking forward to is the squad-orientation and command map additions. If that works well, I'll most definetly have this as my next gen shooter.

I'm hyping Guild Wars primarily. It'll save your soul and stuff.

This game looks pretty amazing, I saw some people playing it on one of those god awful video game TV shows while I was flipping by.

The gameplay graphics have had an increadible revamping since the whole new engine has been put in and you can fly so many new vehicles, from harriers, to choppers, to good old classic, tanks, tanks, and hummers. On the show they were saying they were pushing for 100+ people on a game which would be absolutly insane especially do to the setup of the urban combat approach.

I'm gonna be honest, i am probably not gonna pick this game up as, you stated, WoW owns my soul right now, but maybe later on at some point. Its definitly going to have a huge following when it hits shelves.

This seems like its going to be the next "big hit" FPS. I am definetly interesting in atleast trying, doubt I will buy it since my comp wont be able to support the graphics + 64 other people.

I will definitely pick this up because working together would be very cool. Combat system for squads is quite cool and graphics look great. I cannot wait to play it after watching all the videos online.
