Prey

Post by Undead_Mercenary »

Wow, I just watched the E3 Prey demonstration and I have to say that it looks freakin awesome! It has the dark, creepy-ness of DOOM, the weird technological stuff of Half Life and graphics... well, lets just say nothing compares to it (that I've seen so far). It seems to have a pretty cool concept for the main character (ie out of body experiences), weapons are just kickass. If you havent watched it yet, I highly recommend downloading it.

I envy any of you with the compu-power able to run this bad boy.

While we wait for BF2, here be a half-hour "sneak peek" of the Gulf of Oman, the map in the demo.
Take note of the german speak.

I'm speculating that the Demo will be released between this Monday to Wednesday, as reports straight from EA state that the demo is 100% prepared to get sent out. If not by Wednesday, then they'll likely hold off until next Friday.

I unno.

Pop-ups? Your security lacks discipline!

Prey did look cool, but I'm not interested in it.

Nice BF2 vid Den. I've learned 3 things :

- The German equivalent to "woot" is "wooty-hoo"
- Planes are difficult to fly
- BF 2 looks sweet.

Nuff said. Oh and those German guys were on crack lol.

LOL yeah the vid was pretty funny. They didn't have too much success flying the planes. All said it was great to see the game in action....looks like a very solid shooter and should be a lot of fun.

If you could decipher some of what they were saying. The guy playing and the guy in the background said something along the lines of "mouse control is terrible, should use a joystick."

Demo sometime this week, yay.

Yeah, I told IDO that we'll get a demo server up as soon as we can.

*cross fingers that there is a linux server*

These are the official EA BF2 server requirements for Linux Servers:

Minimum specifications for 16 players
- Processor: 1.0 GHz
- Memory: 256MB RAM
- Bandwidth: 2.5 Mbit

Recommended specifications for 64 players
- Processor: Intel Pentium IV 3.0 GHz or Athlon XP 3000+
- Memory: 1 GB RAM
- Bandwidth: 5 Mbit

--

If 16 people will suck down a 2.5 Mbit connection (download), will we be running into any problems? How much pipe does PHX have?

I understand these are not symmetric requirements, but it would be nice to see what the upload recomendations are.

I'd probably never play above 24 players. Seems 24-32 are the most common player amounts for Vietnam.
