new car thoughts.. Help!!

Post by Grudge »

I am getting a new car this month. I get the A-plan thru Ford so that is the auto maker I will be going with. I have narrowed my choices to 3 vehicles the Fusion, the Escape (4WD), and the Five Hundred. I like all three for different reasons. anyone own or lease any of these? any ideas thoughts or comments? well thanks for the help :) I have to have 4 door to get Grudge Jr in and out of the car.

the escape is too small for an "SUV" .. no weight to make the "4wd" work. My mom seems to think the 500 handles well in the weather here in michigan.. and its a decent family car... but id go with the fusion if you want a little shit and get ;) plus theres enough room for the kid for a few years.. as long as he isnt enormous.

With gas prices today, I'm amazed that anyone would want to still buy a SUV lol.

Can't give an opinion on which is best, but I've always been told Ford kinda blows (especially when it comes to cars... except the Mustang). This is basically word of mouth from friends and family, so no need to flame Ford lovers haha.

But I suppose if I had to choose one... I'd go with the 500. Basically for the same reason as Penguin, more space for kids and such.

too bad its $52,000 ><

Hmm its a tough choice, i like the fusion because you can get it in a 5 speed, but the 500 has indepent front and rear suspension, pluse more room

Consumer reports gave the Fusion a 77 expert rating and the Five Hundred a 70.

Mustang GT was my thought too! but I am not the boss and I have very little to no say in any decision making especially if they are at all financial in nature. My wife sent me to the grocery sore for the week's groceries well after $183 worth of beer , double stuffed oreos and pizza rolls I am grounded

yeah this is insane talk here :) problem with suv's is if you never take it off the pavement you should be shot for buying a vehicle designed for something you will never do...

Not really Yaz the 4WD tends to hold its value you better, not always but in most cases. Also if you leave in an area that has flood or conditons of that nature it is handy. The 500 is a nice car from what i hear, and the A plan is great to get good value, that is why I drive a Chevrolet. If you have a family in mind the Focus isnt the way to go imo. I sold cars up until last year, and alot of what I have heard and seen comes from that view. Have at it

My Sis-in-law has a focus and she hasn't had any issues with it. It's good on fuel and actually has more room than I would have expected. My wife's car is a Kia Sorento 4x4. It's along the same lines as the Escape, size wise and fuel wise. We love the car, except for the gas cost. We're filling up about once every 7-10 days at about $35-45 a pop, so NOT CHEAP! The 4x4 is nice, but something to think about is that if you can get a 4x4 that allows you to turn it on and off is more fuel efficient. And a comment for Yaz regarding the 4x4 and not going off-road.....With my wife and child being the main passengers of this vehicle, my main objective for the 4x4 is incase they go into a ditch in muddy or snowy conditions. They have a much better chance of getting out with the 4WD, than with a standard 2WD vehicle.
