D&D Movie

Post by Undead_Mercenary »

Ok, I think most of us have seen the first D&D movie, and we all know how shitty that was. Even I could pull a better movie out of my ass.

Recently, I heard there was a second movie. Thankfully, it isn't a sequel, but it does have one of the characters from the first one. I think his name is Damodar, that bald transvestite baddy with an attitude problem. That's already a minus in my book.

Anyways, I was curious what some of you thought of this (or maybe you've watched it, I think it came out yesterday). The D&D franchise has so much potential for a cool movie, but like video games, crappy directors just make reference to it just to attract the fans.

The first was kind of like a "teen movie" with its stupid comical characters and "overcoming obstacles" plot.

This second was a serious one, kind of like a real story one would play in the boardgame. Not better than "okay", but better than the first in story, though looking more like a TV movie with a lower budget with a bunch of heavy conversations in the movie.

Actually the second one was a sci-fi made for tv movie and had a fairly low budget. That said it is definitely better than the first one and is a decent enough story to make it at least worth a rental. I'm hoping someday they will pick up at least ONE of the NYT best selling FR or DL novels and make a decent movie out of it, but who knows, these people still give movies to Uwe Boll so I don't have much hope.

Uwe Boll. I said it. Man, I looked him up on IMDB.com and he is did Bloodrayne and Dungeon Siege and Far Cry are coming out. How does this guy get the actors in these movies? I saw the lists.

Simple. Money......

Here's an article on how the scam works (i.e. why this horrible director gets to make these crappy movies with big name actors and game titles....)

There was a movie called "The Producers". It's an indirect documentary on Uwe Boll's villainous 'bad movie-tax audit scheme', except instead of video games, it is "Hitler in Springtime".

Speaking of movies, I just saw Firewall. Basically, if you like Harrison Ford movies such as Airforce One, you'll like this one. Not his best, but it was still worth seeing. I think I'll give it a 8/10.

As for that D&D movie, I'll probably check Block Busters when I go back home during the reading week.
