I'm still waiting for Cooler to jump in and reiterate his love for cheese lol.

I still say the controller isn't better than the mouse + keyboard, and vice versa. They are simply best used for specific kinds of games. Mouse and keyboard are best used for first person shooters, third person shooters (GTA, Max Payne) and RTS.

As for the controller, it's best used for sports games, thrid person action/adventure games (Nija Gaiden, Devil May Cry) and racing games.

There's only a "this is better than that" issue when one is used to play a game that is easier to play on the other system (ie. FPS on a console). This is only my opinion though, because like I've mentioned before, some people actually prefer playing FPS's on a console because that's what they're used to.

And I have a question about one of Den's statements. For the most part, yes, it can be difficult to keep constant movement of your mouse to get from point A to point B. But are you keeping mouse sensitivity in mind? I use a low sensitivity, so I'm winging that thing all over the desk. My room mate however, has it cranked and barely has to move it at all. Yet we both have practically identical scores in BF2.

I just ate. And I'm allergic to emoticons.

"keeping mouse sensitivity in mind?"

No need to, that's a preference thing and is related to looking (infantry). No matter what, there will be an indefinite point where you'd have to interrupt the flow of your mouse movement to reorient it and then continue.

Example being in BF2, I do alright with the mouse while in a chopper because I'd never have to move the mouse very far to tilt the chopper and move elsewhere. But in a plane, lots of fights end in a whole lot of loops and turns, a mouse would not outdo a joystick in terms of consistency.

But still, I'm focusing on FPS and action infantry games using a stick instead of WASD, that is the only thing I'm talking about, any other things talked about are my replies to others' posts.

You have all ignored the greatest asset of the console... Sitting on the sofa with the feet up getting drunk while busting through some levels of some game either with friends or family or alone.. you just can not reach this level of comfort when you need a keyboard and mouse :)

i know its an old thread but i just read through the entire thing and i think this needed to be said...
