Guildwars 2 crafting trick

Last night I was talking to other members in the vent channel about the use of crafting boosters. Like other boons, they shut off when you switch characters so when you log back in the time left on the boost has not changed. I wondered if I log in with another character and gather materials and switch back, would I lose time off my boost. The answer is no. So I gathered with my main and crafted with my lowby and reached lvl 25 in huntsman and went up 2 lvls with my character.I still have 10 mins left for crafting so I will be spending the next several days gathering.
