u talking about America's Army: Army Ops? If so, this game is really not fun (imo).... game moves very very slow, asnd you hve to complete this trainig crap before you can play online. The training sucks and its boring...to be a medic for example, you have to actually sit in class, and take a test...the test is obviously easy but thats not the point, the game is (with an hey) ghey, flat out.. (imo that is)...dload it if you want but dont stay up all night to play dloaded 300meg file, it wont be worth the wait ..

America's Army: Operations has been out for a year and more already.

I played and got through the training quickly. And the Special Forces training was far too easy. I'm a damn good sniper, and now that they added the pistol for snipers, I'm unstoppable (that is unless the rest of my unit is made of retards and rambos).

America's Army is more like Rainbow Six... or any of the other Tom Clancy FPS games. Your character has no customization options until they get 25 Honor (works like an EXP system which can be easily abused), wherein their Special Forces M4A1 SOPMOD can be modified in all sorts of ways.

A big problem with the game is that many of the maps are designed one-sided, one team gets a huge advantage. Not only that, but there are only a few more than a dozen maps.

You want a game that requires true teamwork you will both find and not find it here. Unless everyone on your team is given AND WILL FOLLOW orders, you're more than likely going to get yourself killed. I usually end up being the last guy alive, because while I defend the objectives and set appropiate traps, everyone else leaves all the doors open, rushes into the open, and attempts to play the game as though it was Counterstrike.

Get Call of Duty if you want to have fun, lots of maps, competent players, and lots of guns.

Get America's Army if you want to pull your hair out while a total douche has the sniper rifle, the guy with the M248 falls off a cliff, and everyone else gets out of range and starts dropping one by one.

Or...play Final Fantasy XI!

I played AA the day it was released and now the 2.0 Version... I agree the game is too slow. I have not really enjoyed it. But it is a free game and I am sure it appeals to some people. Yes I am thinking about Call of Duty until HL2/CS2

yea i ventured into COD- great single player- one difficulty is that i dont have a key for online play. i have a keygen but i'm not sure i want to go through reinstalling the game just to find out that the next key wont work. it's also a bit of a waste buying the game when i know (hopefully in a few months) that hl2 will be migrating to shelves (i'm on a tight budget during school year, i'm sure most of you have dealt with similar such financial issues).

this is off topic a bit- but in regards to SWG..... is there any part of the game that equals SOF's match type play? like do you guys in any way have competitions or mini game's or anything against other groups? that's the main reason i enjoy sof so much- ....?

Hell, if at least seven or so of us would play America's Army, were all on Ventrilo, and were set in our places (Meaning we would almost always pick the same Team Role), we could make a good squad.

I'd still rather play Call of Duty, Enemy Territory, or Final Fantasy XI.

I have army ops on my comp installed now. Actually a while ago the servers were pulled down for the war but are now back up. I find that the game involves too much teamwork (Like the real army) and doesn't let me go in and kill everyone who moves. (Or even get close to try)

My favorite map is the Destroyed Subway, on Assault. I scramble through the ventilation ducts and pop out right on top of three or four unsuspecting enemy units while my "allies" are being douches as per usual and having a firefight at the hole in the wall. By now, the competent players are already in the sewers (me and half of the enemy team).

I toss a smoke nade at the bottom of the stairs, and wait above for the enemy to spam away all of their explosives. After I'm sure they're used up all of their grenades, I throw another smoke just in case, and usually have two or so enemies enter through the doorway (right through the smoke, where I happen to be laying on the ground, so while they're trying to walk forward in futility, I wreak havoc on their ankles!).

By now the enemy is down to a quarter in strength, and if I still have a smoke nade, my plans will lead me to a sole victory. Using the sewer's layout, I throw the smoke down the first hallway where the defense usually has a shooter hiding around the corner, then as quickly as possible pull out a frag and cook it so that the moment it lands, it will explode.

Usually at this time, the enemy either rushes the opposite entrance to "run behind" me (thinking I'm hiding in the smoked hallway), or on the rare ocassion, rushes through the smoke. Either way, my nade will hit them right in the face.

Considering that my opposition is now down to one or two, I tread back a ways, and begin firing into empty space. After waiting a moment, if the enemy doesn't come out to have a shootout, I rush back to the smoke hallway and throw in a Stun grenade. If the enemy was anywhere near there... even if not, I'm going to come behind them, down the other hallway.

I fast walk out, check my left, then head down a ways until I come to the objective, and either take down the stunned enemies or tinker with the lock while they go on a goose hunt, rushing the smoke hallway, thinking I'd have bang and cleared that entry.

Oh, the memories... Huh? Oh, what was I typing about?

Oh yeah, that's because you suck, Zarny. Damn kids and their attention spans...

Actually, i got it a few days ago and find it fairly fun. Mostly because the teamwork needed and i make a good commander, medic, or sniper. Although i am not going to tell a complete battle plan like Den, i also use a general tactic on a few levels. If you have free time and don't mind a bit of a challenge occationally, i suggest you play it sometimes.
One other thing i want to say, how you found the second SF training easy, i don't want to know because i have yet to beat it and don't plan to try any time soon.

Most of my battle plans are only made for me, as no one else listens and rushes out to their deaths. I'm quite good in battle-games that allow me to plan my moves (like Worms and Commandos). Though luckily, since its a game, I have infinite chances for trial and error.

If you're referring to the Assault & Escape training run, just fast-crawl the whole way, about two-thirds of the lookouts will not ever notice you. And even if they do, lay still until until they report no findings.

The most difficult parts are the two bridges, the first is easy enough if you time your advances correctly, but the second requires you to pay attention to three different lookouts who are practically feet away from you. If I had a map layout, I could mark down all guards and the exact path you should travel.

...But I'm really into Call of Duty now. A good team can take on the whole enemy force. Such as a few days ago, me and three other guys dominated an entire rotation of Search and Destroy maps as Germany in every map. By the time everyone else was dead, us four had few enemies to take on, and stayed hidden until the enemy moved to the objectives.

It kind of sucks that Call of Duty has so few weapons, more people would pick the sniper rifles due to the lack of guns. Hope there's some kind of update or expansion that adds more guns (especially the M3A1! Yeah! And all of those neglected British pistols, there's like four of them). I'd like to see some maps where we can all ride around in tanks like in those two russian SP levels.

So, who plays what now? I gave up America's Army for Call of Duty. I play under Crevan (or Vincent_Crevan) in games now.

Its kinda annoying because I like to charge out at the beginning too, but I generally run into a few enemys with SAWs and they clear me off the map. I will play whatever i can, into AA right now because the RPG is soooo much fun, even if i do manage to get my teammates half the time. I will probably get back into SOF2 now.I haven't tryed CoD yet but would like to, and still waiting on Halo 2 as many others are too. I still use Neo-Lobo on every game.
