I've had numerous people tell me about disappearing private messages, i.e. someone sends one and the other person never receives it. I investigated and basically it comes down to how people send private messages.

The preferred method is using the forum's private messaging system (this is more just fyi on this piece), but for people that use the members list or some other methods, they are using a different system.

Ok - So here's the "You check" part....

Click on the "Test Link" in the Main Menu (bottom, under Guild Resources). That will bring up the Private Messages from the "non-preferred" method. You may want to see what you have got in the past. For IDO and I, it was alot. After this weekend, it will be fixed, so you shouldn't have to worry about it again.
