Purchase...
Well, I mind as well ask it now. Who plans on buying Lineage 2? I know I would like to buy it, but if we only are going to have a few people in the division, then I believe it may not be worth it.
Its a cool game, definetly fun when in groups hunting or doing quests, and I hope more of you guys will join us. I 'd like to see us in the middle of clan wars and catsle sieges!
So, whoever is going to buy this game, please post.

I will get it one way or another. Its a great way to spend my otherwise useless time.

I tried it.. but the game is basically Shadowbane minus the fun, and with 10 times worse controls. Sure it was more stable.. but who cares if it's boring.
For PvP Shadowbane is a much better game, and with the newest DAoC expansion Camelot will still rank #2 in PvP under Shadowbane.
But if hard-core PvP is what you want, nothing beats Shadowbane.

I have no sig.
Bah Yaz I won't flame ya since everyone has their own opinion.. but you seriously can't compare UO pre-Trammel to Lineage 2 at all.Yazule wrote:I will be buying the game for the always on pvp aspect of it. It is not shadowbane without the fun... it is UO with better graphics.
UO had much better gameplay and for PvP required skill not a random number generator and gear. UO only went the way of "gear beats all" in the late years.
The only way that UO and Lineage compare is how Lineage stole the UO karma system... which has to be the best system ever created.
I have no sig.
I have to disagree on this one, everyone will get the same weapons basically as you level or you are just silly. So of people in the same level range it will be definitely very UO-esk.... has been for me so far though only level 12. They need more varied spells that is for sure.
but to say "gear beats all" was not in UO pre trammel is silly, vanq hally (and knowing how to use the double hally hit) + neclace of reflect = death to anyone casting a spell back when the tank mages were around, hell, just a necklace of reflect would do the job, they kill themselves lol... I wont be able to say more til I level up more but pvp in lineage is the most fun I have had since I played UO...
I do agree that things like the ebolt/explosion combo and the timing involved with it I still have yet to find in another game, but I will say this about UO pvp.
He who has the lowest ping wins most of the time, once I got a T1 (when I was in chicago) I was death on wheels. That I did not like about UO (well I did when I had a T1 and half the server was still dialup LOL)

Another of the dozens of carbon copy MMORPGs of Korean-origin with only a slight variation from the others.
All just the same.
I can have the same exact experience with just about any korean RPG, because the differences are so miniscule. And they all have funny comics.
Though, after a few of them, the experience gets dull.

I played UO, ShadowBane, DAoC, SWG and Lineage2 PvP. I've had access to all the hardcore sites and got to read all the exploits every week that ruin the game for everyone else. It never ends.
UO was hands down my favorite, even though speedhacks like gear ran rampant for 4 years. . . and still do.
ShadowBane blows because it's hackers paradise. Nothing more to say on this one.
DAoC blows because it's way too rock paper scissors, but I must give credit where credit is due and say that this game definately has less game mechanic hackers.
SWG blows chunks because you never know which people have triple sliced weapons and armor (cheats), and people can still speedhack (at the risk of burning the 'ol CPU).
Lineage2 is alot like UO in my book, however I read constantly on hacked this and hacked that, getting level 50 in < 2 weeks blah blah
Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater ...
Since UO got ripped away from my happy hands, I'm stuck with garbage everywhere I look. So I guess the moral of the story is just play what you enjoy and EVERYONE go buy World of Warcraft when it comes out so we can ALL play the same game.

The only other MMO out right now that really needs timing skill to PvP like UO would probably be AC (Asherons Call). And the thing is, if you think Shadowbane is a hack-fest you would pass out just looking at AC.Yazule wrote:

I played the game when it was first released and it was wicked.. but sadly now the ENTIRE PLAYERBASE uses cheats because the developers just always allowed them. Also looking at the graphics now just makes me want to puke lol

Great, looks like very few people will be in this division lol. I would like to get WoW, but I still havent been able to get into Beta. I dont like buying a game that I havent atleast tried.
I guess if Yaz (and Neo?) is still determined to get it, I guess I could as well. Even though we already have a group playing Lineage, most are from the Shadowbane division, and they tend to stick to themselves. So, it gets kinda boring when you're usually solo-ing (although me and Neo meet up sometimes).
BTW, when does WoW come out? Is anyone in PHX actually playing the Beta?

Midnight got the beta, but sold it to someone (bastard!). I'll tell you right now, it will be at least September, if not October when WoW will be live. No fear though, UM. I guarantee (need to come up with an appropriate consequence for if I am wrong....) that there WILL be an open beta before they go live. It may only be for a couple weeks, but it will happen.
