DOOM III

Post by BadAsh »

I placed my preorder for Doom 3 yesterday, been looking at all the previews/reviews that are out on it so far and from the sounds of it it will kick ass. Anyone else picking it up?

Make sure you all checkout what the Minimum and Recommended specs are before you rush out and buy the game. PJ, you'll find out that the cost of the game may not be where your issue will truly lie.

Minimum Requirements:
- A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
- 384 megabytes of memory.
- Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
- An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.

Recommended:
- A 2.0-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 2000.
- 512 megabytes of memory.
- Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
- An nVidia GeForce 6800; or an ATI Technologies 9800 or x800.

You can read the article here.

Yeah, chances are, I'll probably only play it on XBox.

actually they said it runs pretty good on a geforce4mx card and from the screenshot I saw doesn't look all that bad either, just it may get choppy from time to time if you have the 64mb version and less than 512 ram.

Doom3 Multiplayer is a max of 4 people. Don't know if it warrants a server, but if we need it, we can get it.

Ummm.....no - that's Half-Life 2, due in September.

And then there is Quake 4, but that will be late '05 or early '06.

Actually Doom is not hard capped at 4 players, but to run a decent server with say 16 or more people on it it has to be top of the line. The doom 3 server will be handling all physics calculations and I believe lighting stuff too which makes it much different from previous online fps's. The multiplayer is pretty much broadband only so HPB's are SOL.

Half-Life and Doom have nothing to do with one another, besides they are both first-person shooters.

Doom 3 is coming out this wednesday? I wasn't even paying attention.

Beautiful screen shots. Some stores like Best Buy have already put D3 on shelves friday.

AND THEY ARE ALL GONE.
