The demo is available now. You can pull it from Epic's site here:

Epic Games - Unreal Tournament 2003 Official Site

I will also be posting a link to download from our site as soon as I have it pulled down, but it will only be accessible to PHX Members.

Thanks,
I know it's weird to reply to your own posts, but this game rocks....if you like Q3, you'll like this game....beware though, it's a little buggy still...

"They" as in the makers said the final demo would not be like the several betas found on the net. I did get the 3 major beta releases along with a E3 CTF demo (out side grass level). The final demo uses most of the same maps with very little change from beta 2. Yes the demo runs way better and faster but doesn't look any better. The E3 demo I was playing is stuck at 800x600x32 and runs flawless. The final demo can goto 1280x1024x32 and runs smooth with 3 players fighting but when 5 or more come in my frame rate drops like a stone.

This is very bad and I am a little upset. I am running a AMD 2300+ @ 1900Mhz, 1 gig DDR333, 160gig raid 133 and a Gforce Ti4600 which is currently over clocked by 33% thanks to my water cooler vc addon. Now when I built this system I had two major goals in mind, first is to run SOF2 better and to run UT2003. My dual p3 800 with Gf 256 DDR 32meg was pulling 60fps 800x600 with sof2 and looked really nice. When I did the upgrade the game did not look any better than before but it did run at 1280x1024 @ 125fps. So when shit hit the fan this system just keeps right on going. A very nice advantage over my old system.

UT2k3.....First of all it does not look much better than SOF2. Yes I know they are different styles but SOF2 was a major upgrade over Q3 and you seen it right away. This demo doesn't look that good to slow down my system to the degree it is.

Also for all those who want the low down on the R9700 - before the lame kids get on the servers saying it runs the game 100% at full rez, let me tell you right now that I can bring that card to a complete stop with this game. At 1280 the card does run better than the Ti46 - mind you it does not look any better but does not slow down as much in mid battle. It does slow down thats a fact. With everything on the card can stall big time when in mid battle. I am sure this will be fixed in the final as Doom3 was running off of the R9700 and it looks 3 times more complex.

Also for those who like CTF - the level with the floating mines - you can go up there with the transl device. If you goto mid level there is a bridge - you will see a mine close to you, trans onto that one and then trans onto the one above it to find a mega health bonus. This also makes for a kick ass sniper location. To zoom in when you have the gun, press and hold the right mouse button.

Sniper war anyone (A7 and Waste)

I also have a p3 600 box setup for pratice - for many in the US expect a 100 ping.

I downloaded and played this for about 20 minutes before I had to come to work. So far so good !

Like GeneralH, I have a top system (minus the overclocking) and have noticed the strain from time to time.

I am much better at these "nuke 'em" type games over SOF2 and CS, but I love them both the same. (consider them apples and oranges). Having played QW,Q2 and Q3A until the cows sang, I feel at home with UT2K3.

Now, as far as the graphics go, there are a few new technological debuts such as full bump mapping and NURBS for curves (like that groovy bridge). Hundreds of thousands of triangles per frame will tax just about any system. The particle system looks dynamite as well.

Being an admirer of Carmack and Sweeny, I stand behind them in makeing our systems sweat. Lots of people are angry about the hefty specs needed for Doom3 and UT2K3, but these guys just want to break barriers. I honestly dont think these guys will rest until we reach a point of singularity in which we cannot tell real from devised.

Also, as time goes on, things will speed up as they make trimmings and shavings off the code and map face count.

And like GeneralH said, the look has a strong resemblance to SOF2... the pastel browns, golds and greens look close.

Only time will tell if the "fun factor" makes this one fly off the shelf.

I can host a server if anyones interested in PHX for some smackdownin'
