SOF2 Ravensoft Server List Master Change

Post by I.D.O. »

This may or may not affect SOF2 players, even though I believe I had an issue last night. Ravensoft changed the server that hosts the "server list" to a new one and users / servers may not have the new DNS information. I know last night around 10:00PM I could only see about 67 servers in my list. My DNS must have had the old one cached. Any way if you have any issues ping master.sof2.ravensoft.com and you should recieve a response from 63.146.124.45. If it is 204.97.248.67 then you are pointing to the old one.

Just an FYI!!!

If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you can probably do this:

1) Open a command window
2) Type 'ipconfig /flushdns'
3) Ping master.sof2.ravensoft.com
4) If you get '63.146.124.45' as the responding address, then you should be ok, anything else and it is probably cached at your ISP provider's DNS servers. You'll just have to be patient and wait for them to expire. It shouldn't be long. Most ISPs have their cached DNS records expiring on hourly or daily basis.

Just to be clear, this is what you should type in:

ipconfig /flushdns

Make sure you are at a command window. (i.e. go to start -> run -> type cmd -> enter)
