AoS

Post by Darkkan »

As we all wait for AoS to come out, remeber even if they have royal screwed the game up, we will adjust and go on. We always have and always will. Lets hope it is not a big ruin the mage patch, but that is what I think it is. Carry on and have a good night

Yeah, I'm getting a little nervous about some of the changes ... considering the time, money and effort into the powerscroll building we have put in.

I spent a whole year getting GM poison on my warrior, and now it's going to take mana to poison? Not that big of a deal being a hybrid, but a few simple swigs of OJ from my opponent and I'm now out of mana with a 100 points gimped for the fight.

I also worry that our current mage templates will become obsolete. Obsolete in the sense of being "not optimal". So the skill treadmill will start spinning again. After almost 5 years playing, I'm not thrilled in starting ANY skill from scratch.

But you're absolutely right Darkkan, we will adapt, move forward, kick ass and scribe names.

LOL

Age of Shadows ... fianlly logged in. Played around with it a little tonight.

Just got done getting kicked around by Applesauce. His elder skills really make the word deadly sound like an insult. I'm talking 78 point flamestrikes, 31 point fireballs and 17 point arrows.

The lesson here? Armor. Having no armor just doesn't fly anymore. Just a heads up.

Also, poison is HARDCORE back. With a vengance. Poison is ... well ... unfreakingbelievable.

As you play around with this AoS, please post your pearls of wisdom you discover here so we can sift through the chaff.

Give it time.....You may grow to like it. The bad part is that there are so many variables right now, we don't really know what the optimal configuration is for a character. The good part is, there is a lot that is changing, which will provide for a lot of opportunity to learn, grow, and experiment.

All I'd say is rather than all of us "complaining" about how all of our characters are screwed, let's figure out what the best things to do are and get moving. The faster we figure it out, the better off PHX is.

Quite well said Arch. We should all get togeather in a few days and go over what we have found out that works and what doesnt. Its only human nature to not like things that we do not understand, so lets try and figure it all out. This is just another page in the book, remember that no one liked Pub 16, but we all learned to deal with it and move on.

hehe Darkkan, I felt the same way at first.

Check out your warriors and spar around with the new special moves. Actually they are pretty sweet. Depending on the weapon you use, the special moves change accordingly.

I think all these changes in a group setting will work to our advantage.

A few more tidbits I have noticed.

- DON'T use pop pouches anymore. They give counts and will kill you doing around 25 points of damage in armor per pop.

- Paralyze really means paralyze now. I'm unaware of a "get out of jail free" card like boomboxes were.

- Don't worry about Focus if youre maxed out in skills already. From what I gather, its not that big of a deal.

Hang in there buddy. Hopefully you won't have to change anything on your characters too much.

But that's just it Darkkan....there has always been an imbalance between mages and warriors. The reason a lot of people won't like this patch is that they like the superiority that mages existed in before. Now there is a leveling with the mages and the warriors. This patch will bring them closer than they were before.

Like with anything new, you just need to adjust....

I take back what i said before Dark. I am starting to agree with you. If i wanted to play D2, i would. UO has an element that other games do not, human inuition.

This new skill focus is a pain right also, turn it down or lock it before you do any thing becuase it gains like crazy, even faster then med. If you dont want a skill to go all the way down becarfull with it.

Although i do agree we do need to give this time, i think that when they came up with the ideas for this they were doing too much acid. I supose with every thing good that comes out there has to be some thing that we dont like, but I think the dropped too much on us all at once. If they had done the transition alittle slower, in steps, there probably wouldent be the problems with the server that there having. I can bairly get to the shard screen, let alone log in.
