SOF2 Bandwidth question

I have cable which is capped off at 1Mbits down and 300 Kbits up.<br />

My question is : anyone know the approximate bandwidth each player sucks up ?<br />

I've never hosted before so I'm in the dark on this one.<br />

I'm guessing 300k should give 10 players max potential.<br />

Also, just as an unrelated blurb, I get a kick out of a rare breed of people in UO and in SOF2 that say things like "I'm playin on an OC192 so I rule" my thoughts are yeah right buddy, first off an OC192 is MILLIONS of dollars per year, and second , talk is cheap. sigh, everyone in UO has a T3 in their house. Internet : liars paradise.<br />

I like to get on those people's cases to just to prove they are lying. I say something like "You got a T3 in youre house eh?" they say "YUP" and I press them to give me model numbers of CSU/DSU and routers and its dead silence ... <IMG SRC="modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif"> fools<br />

Well I don't have a T3 at home but I do have a T1 <IMG SRC="modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"><br />

I did a test using a software router called sygate for pc. There is also a few for mac/pc but i forgot its name. Basicly you load this app on a dedicated pc which has everything you need. Then you can allow others to login and use your line. I was messing with it to allow several people to use 56k dial up. I also used this when the UT2k3 betas hit, this game only supported lan games so over the net wasn't possible. With sygate it was.<br />

Anyways the app shows you the speed of traffic both ways. 4~6k is all a single user needs to maintain a 50 ping. Thats 4 to 6kbyte or 32 to 48kbit. So with your line you can host 9 plus yourself providing all the users ping very well to you.<br />

My line is slightly over a T1 as I have 7Mbits down and 1Mbits up. Since I never really use anything over 24kbytes the 7 down is over kill. My up is 1.54mbit or 192kbytes. I have pushed my line to a solid 218kbytes. With that in mind I should be able to host a nice server but my last attempt at a SOF2 server had 3 people on it pinging close to 200 and the number was going up with every new join.<br />
