Ah, Star Blazers, Space Battleship Yamato series. The classic space "star ocean", like the Japanese Star Trek/Wars, but a lot cooler.
Yes, Animatrix.
The key to knowing what is anime and what is not is that anime is just a Japanese/French word for "cartoon" or "animation". Technically anything is anime.

Cultural.
In Japan, anything introducing hand-drawn or computer-generated animation is "anime", because that's what they are, animations/cartoons.
On the Western Hemisphere (US!), everything is a cartoon/animation. Only select groups define Japanese animation as "Anime Style" or "Japanimation" or "whatever".

I like Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Steel Angel Kurimo, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Furi Kuri(only for the insane or people going insane that just need a push) , GTO(awesome series sad when i couldnt find anymore) and etc etc so many out there. Also towards the end of rurouni kenshin it gets really WEIRD last 2 eps in particular wont spoil anything but its definitely not how i thought they would end it. Also for u kenshin lovers what do u guys think was his best fight?
