I'm thinking of getting into one of these mind-rots.
Any info about each game's personality traits would be appreciated.
Basically, which one is best?
Which one can start making me pay the monthly fee fastest?
And, which one y'all are thinking of for yourselves?
My spin on them:
EVERQUEST:
about 5 of my friends live the game. it would be easy to get an active division if they were allowed in [i'm not saying that is necessary]. game looks a bit boring since you don't actually fight.
SW:GALAZIES:
don't know too much 'bout this one. sounds sweet but so did my first girlfriend before i got to know her.
PLANETSIDE:
the most potential based on what i heard. lots of fighting and crap. maybe like a HALO for multiplayer PC gaming? i don't know
Everquest, SW:Galazies and/or Planetside

Ok...here ya go.
EQ - Aging game. Take it from me, it's a bad idea to join a game where you're a noob and countless others are 5 years ahead of you. Sure, these games make it easy to catch up, but there is still a lot of grief and it's for a game that Sony itself is working on replacing with EQ2 in 2004(?). I would say don't bother on this one. (P.S. We can still talk about your friends creating an EQ div but once again....another topic). If EQ truly peaks your interest, then I would recommend.....
SW:Galaxies - SW:G is created by the same division that pumped out EQ and has lifeblood from competitor Ultima Online (the people that created the first version that was good). I'm in the beta and to be honest, just really started devoting any time to it this week. It's very cool with excellent graphics and options, but it's still a little rough. I would recommend if there is an open beta or trial edition for you to try it before you buy. These types of games are VERY VERY time consuming. They'll tell you of all the changes or options they have that will level out the playing field of those who play 24x7 and those who play 5 hrs a week. It's crap. It's all to sell games, but they all say it so it's not a detraction from this one. I believe targeted release is April 15th. I think the game cost is $50 and monthly fee is $12.95. Pricey but unfortunately comparable to all of these types coming out now.
PlanetSide - I am very excited about this. Want to get in the BETA!! Anyways, this is Sony's brilliant idea to come up with a EQ type game but with a spin for FPS players. Three factions in a war over a planet. You join a faction and fight for control of cities and continents. Like SW:G, there is too much detail to cover so I recommend looking at the website. I just hope this isn't another NeoCron where your twitch skills really have nothing to do with your fighting. In NeoCron, you lock on your target by double clicking on them and selecting attack, then you will always hit your target. Additionally, your damage is severely impacted by your skill levels and weapons. To a degree, PlanetSide will have to be the same with skill and weapons, but if twitch skills mean nothing, then it's gonna suck. So far, it doesn't look like that'll be the case, so I'm pumped. I think the pricing here will be comparable to SW:G. I recommend if you like FPS games, that this may be the one to watch for. I believe release is targeted for May.

that is three games right? hehe
planetside looks like something I could get into.
WoW ... well *holds nose* I dont think so :p
different strokes though, liking sci fi more than hack and slash fantasy. I have done the fantasy thing for over 20 years though, so that is why I am sick of it I am sure. WoW does not seem to have the graphics I crave though either, more cartoonish vs realistic.
but like I said, everyone has their own opinions
maybe in 20 years you will be sick of orcs and stuff too :p (not you though FGO hehe)
