Not many freebies in this area, but loads of 30 day trials out there to wade through.

The best free PLAYER I found was cliprex. You can check them out at http://www.cliprex.com and see if it works for you.

On the other hand, I would recommend investing in a good DVD recorder so that you can share your movies with others. And that will come with both recording and player software in the box.

For me, I use a Plextor 716A drive with the Roxio software that came with it with 0 problems. Today, I would choose the Plextor PX-740A and it's only 100 bucks.

I need one (a program) to watch dvd's, I got Nero with my external burner so I can use that to burn. Xor I bought a nice burner, it is the sony dvdirect http://www.sonyburners.com/media/flash/dvdirect/ I bought it to go with my minidv camera. I just installed an older 5x dvd player in my computer and since I just spent so much $ on a camera and dvd burner my wife won't let me buy anything else, so I was just trying to find a way to play the dvd's on my comp. :) I will check out the cliprex, i have seen this the other day but it said I had to install some coupon thing or something... I don't know.. thanks for the ideas

I like DivX personally, it is always updating so it is good for other programs they may be missing certain codecs.

I've used DivX, VLC and Media Player Classic. All of them are free, and they all worked great for me (I prefer Media Player nowadays).

Not particularly on topic but if you want a DVD converter/transcoder (to change the format) the only place i found a free one after scouring the web for 3 hours was on www.videora.com
