Apple iPod Video
So I've been thinking about getting a PSP for awhile, mainly for the music and movies. But I've been seeing some sub-par reviews, and the guy at EB today recommended not buying one (he recommended the DS, so I laughed at him lol). Also, it's really going to cost me a lot to buy the system, plus a 1 gig memory stick for music.
So after browsing for awhile, I realized that maybe there's something better out there. Then it hit me: iPod Video! I would be saving about 100$ up front, plus it has 30GB of storage. The only cons I've heard of so far was that it can scratch easily (I'll just buy a protective case), and the battery life is kinda low if you watch videos.
Does the iPod only read iTunes MP3's? That's probably the only thing I didn't find out. For the video, I found some links to video converters.
Anyways, I was interested in some opinions on this. I need a new MP3 player, and I'd like to have the ability to watch video. I mind as well get something that should last me a couple years (my current one is 128 megs, and I've had it for over 2 years).

I got a video ipod.. 30 gig, cost me a dollar.
i can let you know how through vent if you're interested (a dollar plus time)
it'll play any mp3, but for video you do need to conver it, which takes some time. you can use the full version of qiucktime though. Gotta say, i love the 30 gigs for music!
Talk to me more in ven tif u have any questions

Well sorry if I don't like cool games like Animal Crossing or NintendogsArchangelus wrote:I'm getting a DS..... bite me.
Actually that was kinda funny what happened at EB. I came in asking about the PSP price, and right away the guy was telling me not to get one. Apparently, blowing on the screen will break it
I'll definetly try to catch you on Vent spiderman next time I see you're on. This is a lot of money to spend, so I need to know every detail! Oh and I found out about the iTunes thing. My room mate told me that you only have to install the iTunes program, and add the songs you want on some playlist. Easy enough.
As for videos, apparently there's different programs out there, one of which is shareware. I forget the name, but I'll try to post it later. There are ways around shareware

I have a PSP and absolutely love it! It comes with wireless lan, can play superb games for a handheld, gorgeous picture, but the screen is fragile..... But the video Ipods screen is even more so. Either case you would want to have a case for them. The only draw back for the PSP is storage space! Sony is comming out with a 4 and 8g memory cards, but no telling what they will run. I love my Ipod but it is an old 3rd gen and nothing but mp3s, so I got my PSP to suplement it...and I never regreted it.
Most people are like slinkies, they are only entertaining when you push them down stairs....

If you go to http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ you can download a video converter for free, i have it and it works really well, was the only FREE MP4 one i could find where you didn't have to install search bars and other shit.
I like the ViPod, i have the 30gb one and that does me. The only rip off thing is that they don't give you a pluggin charger, only the USB one, and to buy a charger is like £15

When I bought mine, I set it down on a nice smooth table ONE TIME and the back got all scratched up. I'm like WTF. If you can scratch the shit out of the back by simply setting it on a table, get a protective case DAY 1. I can't tell you how much it pisses you off to spend $300 and it gets all scratched to shit instantly. Makes you want to duct tape Steve Jobs to a office chair and push him down a large, steep hill.

Oh yeah, I'd be buying a case for sure. I wonder if they have zippers, because if they do, wouldn't that also scratch them on the way in?
As for recharging it, I heard it only supports USB 2.0 if you recharge it with your computer. If that's true, I'm going to have to buy a charger for when I go home, since my parent's computer only has normal USB.

I have an Ipod (not the video kind) and I love it to pieces BUT it is ridiculously easy to scratch up (as mentioned) and the battery life does wane a good bit and they will charge you up the wazoo to replace it. You can replace it yourself but then you make the warranty null of course. Also on mine the click wheel stopped working right so it is a royal pain in the ass to get to to forward to the next song and stuff.
I recommend it anyway but with the caveat that you protect it like a fragile egg and make sure you have the longest apple warrantee you can get.

PS I have a charger that plugs into the wall...I can also charge it via usb but I really only use that when I am transferring music or changing playlists and whatnot.

True, but I realize now that I'd be buying the PSP for the wrong reasons. It's a video game system first, music and video player second. Plus in the long run, I'd be saving money by not buying over-priced UMD movies and games, and having to buy bigger memory sticks for music. I gotta restrain myself with all these games... bad enough that I'm using college money to buy PC games lol.
