RE: The REAL Spiderman
Heh I go rock climbing very often - about once or twice a month sometimes, I can tell a few things from this ... It isnt the first time hes climbed that mountain - note his jumps ... that woulda never been possible with that little time to think (because you never jump to a rock if you're not sure that it will hold ... theres all kinds shit of loose rock out there)
I could probally do something like that in about 10-12 minutes the wall itself wasnt overly difficult
But doing that without any kind of rope is just insane ... that guy is amazing. And even if you knew that that one rock was safely secured, making that jump ... wow....
Where was that done at TNS?

Bear's Reach 5.7
Lover's Leap in California
A 5.7 is something beginners can do.
Anybody with arms strong enough to pull their own weight can climb a cliff like that guy did.

I used to rock climb before I got fat and old and that guy had a really easy climb, folloed a crease about 80% of the time, the jump was pycho more than impressive...
yes he climbed it fast, but only because he has the darwin award gene running strong through his veins.

Yaz, as ever, is right. More right than he knows. Dan Osmon died a while back when jumping off a cliff from nothing but a climbers rope. It's called Controlled Free-falling. Apparently he was well practiced in this and had a well thought out rig system. He'd done it hundreds of times. But he tried one jump too many when he used a 1000ft rope, made up from smaller ropes tied together. One knot wasn't strong enough to take the sudden weight from him as the rope became taught, and the rope broke, causing him to fall to his death.
You think it sounds cool until you realise jumping off a cliff with nothing but a rope is damned stupid anyway.
Even if that other clip is an easy climb, it's still impressive for noobs like me
