Vanguard Beta

Post by BadAsh »

Apparently it's up on Fileplanet, and not just the installer I mean the actual registration. I got my key already. Anybody else going to give it a go?

Awe, I'd like to check it out but I don't subscribe either. I hear tell that the developers played a lot of Wow and fixed where Wow is broken. I think (trying to remember, it's been a while) that the only thing that bothered me about it was that it was supposed to be set up more towards the group experience. I find myself solo at least 60% of the time in a game (probably higher really) and hate grouping with random idiots (except you guys of course :D) and don't really care to be forced.

There is tons of solo content... as well as grouped.

Usually get better exp and loot when grouped. Most of the dungeons have both available you just wouldn`t be able to go deeper unless your grouped.

So far not bad. Buggy yes but overall nice.

After trying a bunch of characters, I finally found one I like. I made a Dark Elf Monk, and man does he ever kick ass! He's only at level 3, but he takes down mobs in a flash.

I've been in the closed beta for quite awhile, and I can tell you the game is still quite buggy but does show some promise. You'll see mobs skating across the ground instead of walking half the time, massive framerate issues if you don't have a nice system, etc... although it has been getting a lot better. To me it seems basically like EQ has been upgraded and seems like a cross between EQ1 and EQ2. To answer Yaz, yes there is an FFA PvP server.

I got rid of my old system a few days ago and I'm in the process of building a new one though, so unfortunately I won't be able to play for a week or so.
I have no sig.

I played it a bit, wasn't much impressed with it TBH. I see that they copied the quest feedback system that LOTR beta has though, which is a phenominal idea for beta's and hope to see more of it. The game does perform like crap though and I lost interest about 3 seconds after I got my first "kill x fuzzy bunnies" quest. I'll probably try it again if we can get a bunch of us to group together to play.

Damn guys, I'm sorry - I just noticed that I got into the "Closed Beta - Phase 4" back on 12/27 - if I would have cared to check my e-mail.

I have zero time to try this and after seeing some of the gameplay footage, I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

Anyways.....

If someone would like to try it, I'd be happy to shoot the info to you. First PM I get from a PHX member, gets it....

Yeah I agree. Vanguard is really nothing new, and even the basics of any MMO seem to be horribly integrated into this game. Some people claim the game gets much better after level 10, but I don't have the patience to get a character past level 5.

One thing I recommend any beta tester to try is to roll a Kurashara character and visit their capital city. There are some pretty cool NPC creatures hanging out in their palace. Maybe I'll post a screenshot tonight if I remember.
