(Note: I would have loved to see Saddam crocheting mittens.)
LoL! This is why I love you guys :)

I will agree with Neo in that the media doesn't always portray the good things we're doing over there. I had an instructor friend that I work with that came back about a month ago. He told us a lot of Iraqi's thanked him almost daily for what we did. He brought back stories like that. He also brought back the, "Hehe, this is another way I almost died" type story (he's a sicko  ), but he's also ready to go back and try to keep helping. You don't always here about those people.

I'll say that a lot of the violence that's going on right now is sectarian in nature. Sunni vs Shite. It's a chance for old scores to be settled and they're trying to do that now. You're having outside influences (Iran/ Syria) that are helping to fuel the flames which we need to figure out a way to stop. Like Yaz said, 2k+ years of fighting.
I guess my point was that we cannot use the threat of terrorism to be an open invitation to declare war (or a "military engagement") anywhere in the world.
I totally agree. Which leads to...
We are not the world police.
That's correct. But we also can't be total isolationists.

Part of the reason we're the main target is that we're everywhere, but it's also our policys. Who we are perceived as helping, who we are perceived as ignoring. Why aren't we helping here? Why are we helping there? People will use whatever excuse they need to in order to justify their actions, whether they be good, evil or some shade inbetween.

I do know that I'm happy that you support all of us and that you wish us all the best :D

Its nice to see everyone post their opinions about the war. Try backing it up with some cold hard facts and not just what the AMERICAN media and government want you to hear. Psych 101 :)
