Yeah, I saw this on the front page of ShackNews.com yesterday. Perfect example of the few screwing it up for the many.

Only problem is there are A LOT of things getting blown out of proportion here. The main thing being the claims that a dev just created and gave the alliance in question some Tech2 BPO's out of thin air. That part is incorrect and what actually happened is that the dev's player character gained the BPO's through normal ingame means, perfectly legitimately. Unfortunately it was discovered that he was a dev by other players in the corp and he was forced to retire the character. The mistake I believe he made was giving his tech2 bpo's away to his corpmates instead of them getting deleted with his character and then reseeded into the market. There definitely was some mistakes made in this but CCP hasn't finished with their investigation yet and has promised to answer all the remaining questions that players had before the weekend.

Ick, it seems one of their developers have now admitted the cheating:

It'll be funny to watch how this turns out.

Too much forgiveness going around.

CCP employees work in a setting where security is a fact of life, and people that violate the honor and integrity of this realm need to be terminated immediately. I don't care if he is your freakin' father. You're gone.

Antics such as these sink bigger companies than CCP, and their leniency will cost them millions in the long run if they are not careful.

It pisses me off even more because EVE is such a unique, cool game.

Oh believe me, this will cost them a lot of subs and money and the guilty dev has effectively fucked himself over in the long run. But the game will go on and the community has certainly not taken it lightly. Good thing the players can do something about it.

The first EVE-wide 0.0 war has just started and it's gonna be a doozy.
