Archlord

Post by Undead_Mercenary »

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you played Archlord. It's a MMORPG that's free to download and play. I played it back in beta and didn't think much of it, but now that it's free, I'm on it from time to time.

For anyone who hasn't heard of this game, it's a fairly new korean MMO that plays out almost identically to any other korean MMO (Lineage II, RF Online, etc.). So really, nothing new here. I'll be the first to admit that it isn't a great game. The controls are a bit clunky (I can never understand why korean MMO's have so much trouble getting WASD right), everything is really expensive, hardly any character customization, generic combat system... I could go on.

I personally think it is easier to play than other korean games, like Lineage II. Although there's still a lot of grinding, you seem to get more XP, more money and more loot. Potions play a huge role in combat, so fortunately every mob drops either a health or a mana potion. You do have to travel on foot quite a bit, but so far I've found scrolls and portals that allow me to travel instantly back to town or to a specific location. Plus, there are always quests to do at each level. Granted, most of them are "kill X number of Y", but at least they give you lots of XP and sometimes a good reward.

All in all, it's probably the best free MMO I've played to date (way better than Dungeon Runners). If anyone is interested in checking it out, my character is Vhorik on the Brumhart server.
