Items in background

Post by Tasmania »

I have this little window that pops up on my taskbar about every 15 mins or so, and goes away in about 3 sec. Well I was finally able to click on it to see what it is, and this is what I found:

ms_WebcheckMonitor. I found this out with a google search but it didnt seem to work.

Microsoft article: Q176960 or Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:
176960. If you wish to get rid of this "ms_webcheckmonitor" open a command prompt and go in your system directory: c:\windows\system32. Then type: regsvr32 /u WEBCHECK.DLL and the registry entry is gone and therewith the trouble. Restart to see the result. If you however need "ms_webcheckmonitor" again just register the WEBCHECK.DLL with: regsvr32 WEBCHECK.DLL and after a restart it's back online. Thisprocedure worked fine on my system.

When I do this I get a box that pops up and says:
WEBCHECK.DLL was loaded, but DllUnregisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered. Then I can only hit an OK button

Anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?

Wire cutters. maybe a hammer. if you send a check (cashiers, not personal, you could be anybody) to me for $199.99 (canadien currency preffered, this week anyways) I will email you detailed instructions on how to use your wire cutters. you could always just look away frome the screen for about 3 seconds every 15 minutes and you will never see it again, problem solved... amatures

Well if you get the box thats says can not be registered than that file is not the culprit or that file has been changed. and if you regsrv32 /u a file you are uninstalling that file and it should never say it can not be registered. i am affraid you did something wrong. the /u command should return a dll has been unregistered or dll entry not found in the registry could not be un loaded. keep diggin taz.
