vent problem

Post by Tasmania »

Well trying to install the new vent but I am having the following problem uninstalling the old version:

Whenever i try to uninstall it it says
"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unaviable"
"click ok to try agian,or enter an alternate path to a foleder contating the installiton pacakge in the box below"
and it's looking for
WIS789289CAF73A4A16A33154D498CE069F_2_2_0.MSI
and it keeps looking in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wise Installation Wizard\
and it says its not there what do i do?

Manually uninstall - remove Ventrilo from registry and delete the folder.

Start
Run
"regedit"

Find: "Ventrilo"
Delete all folders and keys

Delete old version of Ventrilo folder

Install new Vent.

Don't forget kneeling east, while shaking a voodoo rattle violently.

Still not working. Did all the above and still get the same message. It also says that the old vent 2.2.0 is still installed

I believe under C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data, there is a Ventrilo folder. I'd personally do a search like the following and delete everything except for the installation package you are trying to use:

1) Start -> Search
2) Click 'All Files and Folders'
3) Type 'vent*' in 'All or Part of the File Name'
4) Click 'More Advanced Options' and make sure the following three are checked:
---Search System Folders
---Search hidden files and folders
---Search subfolders
5) Click 'Search'

Delete them all (except the new install).

I had the same problem but if you just go to start programs and the ventrilo folder there should be a a thing called trivent in there click on that and it will uninstall it if you downloaded the trivent thing from the phx website
