Vista killed my COD4 profile

Post by z3r07w0 »

Game crashed and because i was playing COD4 i am now at lvl 50 and everything ive done in the past 4 months was erased. Even servers that had new maps and mods....all gone. Im going to shoot bill gates. JK...im pissed off. Now you know why its pointless for me to play games like WOW or LOTRO. I'll just lose my save points.now i have to go and download pam again and fix all my settings. :(

unlike xp, vista isn't familiar with cod4. Every time i load it i get the message that it didnt close properly last time and do i want to play it in safe mode. On top of that, all the crashing i got from vista fried my last mobo and now that im on a new mobo, its still crashing. I think its time to switch to xp. Im sick of running 65 programs when i dont need them.

I get the same thing in XP sometimes with COD4, either way I don't know why it would do anything to your profile info. I know i've had to redo my system settings but my unlocks/achievements survived no prob, even bringing them over from my old comp.

Oh and one of the good things about MMO's. even if your computer dies all data is stored on the server, so everything is intact whenever you get back ingame.

told ya....

Ther ei s a computer shop around the corner from me which has a sign which reads "We will unistall Vista and install XP". I wonder why???

Most of my friends at work have made the switch back to XP. Mainly due to crashes in Vista. I would suggest switching if you can.

Okay, once again i ahve yet for vista to crash on me. Vista does not and will not crash, the programs running inside vista aka CoD4 will crash but not vista. When Vista or XP crash's you get a nice pretty BSOD, that is a crash. You balme bill gates, you blame vista. Have you ever thought about looking at what your doing to your box. Also vista or XP crashing over and over again will not and i repeat will not fry your motherboard. only thing that will fry your motherboard is an electrical overload, not the operating system.

I havent had vista crash on me either. but other things seem to crash a lot more often in vista than in xp.

Might just get linux

No cooler i did not write vista. But i do know how the OS works and how the software works. And i know what is true when it comes to computers and what is false. and i keep seeing the same damn argument come up and i type the exact same thing everytime.

Simple, microsoft shouldn't have released a windows program that is not compatible with a large amount of programs. I shouldn't be getting a message every time i load COD4 telling me it didnt close properly and that i should play it in safe mode. There isnt anything wrong with my box. I run a duo core system with 4gigs of ram and 600 watts of juice. All my drivers are up to date. Now, im not running a 8800 ultra but i have a 8500 gt. That should be enough. I blame vista because i never had these errors and crashes like i do with the operating system. You have obviously taken steps to prevent issues with your system but im not a programmer and cant fix the issues that keep messing up my computer. It's easier to just go back to what i know works.......XP
