anybody using internet security suites these days? maybe 1 of those with "resource control" for gamers?

Nope. I actually just use AV on my system and rely on my router's firewall personally.

It's a bit like living dangerously, but the risk is still pretty low if you have the router's firewall configured properly.

Just my opinion, I never use "suites" because all of your protection is bundled by one vendor. I prefer a more heterogeneous approach using well tested and acclaimed security products. Just be wary of the marketplace trend of "double dipping" with offering protection for botnets and other fringe threats.

In general you need Antivirus, a personal firewall and a spyware solution. To use me as an example, I use Zone Alarm Pro, NOD32 anti-virus and Super Anti-spyware/a-squared free. Also be sure to use NoScript for Firefox, because threats extend to web servers you visit.

I know there are a lot of other great products that provide the same amount of protection. I'm sure others can chime in on their favorites.
