Site hacked?

Post by TimeIIDie »

I've been having McAfee going ballistic with virus warnings everytime I connect to the site, is something going on?

Yes - the site has been compromised. I am working on resolving it now.

Please use http://www.phoenixorder.com/index.htm to know when it's "safe to come back in the water".

I believe we are back in business. I apologize for the inconvenience. Apparently, I hadn't been doing my job keeping the site up to date with security updates (in fact, I got hit with an exploit from 2006). So, sorry about that.

If anyone sees any more errors or warnings, e-mail me immediately. If anyone needs help cleaning up their system if the spyware/virus did actually get installed, please let me know and I'll do what I can.

Sorry again!

No issues here now thankfully, and it seems everything was picked up fine.

If that stuff ever happens again, please e-mail me ASAP. BadAsh said something to IDO last night, but it wasn't until this morning that I started receiving a bunch of PMs that others were seeing something.

Thanks to all that alerted me to the problem, and those that actually identified what the issue was before I even looked at it. :)

I was approached by the director of IT at work today. I used the work computer to get a PM out to Arch about the problem with the site.

IT logged 16 entries. The trojan was trying to install apps and links for porn sites.

Boy, did that make me look awesome at work!

Just goes to show you that even an experienced IT professional can get caught with their pants down. These guys just wanted to download the pictures to prove it. :)
