Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
http://warhammeronline.com/
I am not sure the actually release date, the web site says Sep 18, but the retail outlets are selling the program today here in Canada. I am going to atleast try this MMO.
Anyone else?
Maybe people can list their character names and servers, and we can band together for death and destruction...
I have been playing Pirates of the Caribbean Online, blowing ships out of the water, its a little boring...

RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
I have been semi-WOW'ing it up again on Shadow Council. WHO does sound interesting though...
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
too many years in warcraft to play warcraft version 1.2... it looks so slow and just not worth it after playing aoc.. its a shame that funcom is terrible looking forward to blizzards next big game
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
I am holding out on World of Warhammer until I see what kind of impressions people feel after launch. After wasting 50 bucks on the foul abomination of AoC, I want to hold out a little. If people are excited and pumped about the game, I'll be all over it. I just don't see any compelling reason to play yet. Pentagonally bitten, Hex shy.
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
You know, if you have never played the game than how can you compare it to another ?
I am going to try it. I've never played warhammer, I watched a friend of mine play WHO tonight and the class's look really interesting. Some need a good ole fashion nerf stick taken to them, and others need to be beefed up. The idea's for PVP or RVR in this game look and sound really interesting.
Please guys don't give bad reviews for games you have never played, people read these forums for information on new games and you are ruining it for them and us. You shouldn't listen to what others say about a game, try it for yourself and find out. If you are going to rely on public opinion than atleast ask someone who has played, don't ask someone that has heard it is not a good choice. Lets not rely on hearsay and speculation to make our decisions. Worst case scenario your out $60.
Of course every game will pale in comparison to WoW, through the eyes of WoW players. Love it or hate it, its top dog and everything will be compared to it.
Squig Herder FTW or perhaps White Lion ?
Witch Hunter - alright ( has a good ranged flanking slow, not bad dps. Kind of a hybrid class.)
Engineer - sucks at low lvls (decent tank but shitty dps)
Murauder - uber (I mean you are a shapeshifter, that is the shit. Crazy awsome dps and tanking ability)
Squig Herder - can you say nerf stick ?. This class is the easy button (pet has tonnes of aggro ability, can tank like crazy and you get multiple pets at higher lvl. All this while you sit back debuff and do some nice dps with your bow. Or my battle tactic in pvp, hide behind a rock and let my pets destroy the enemy while they are wondering what the hell just happened.)
Downsides to this game:
If you use a mouse you are going to get really frustrated at selecting your target and or item. I'll let you figure out why.
Btw you shouldn't be using your mouse anyhow, this is an MMO not a FPS.
A few graphical glitches when I tried out the engineer.
No auto loot button, which isn't necessarily bad news.
Paying for skills, good or bad I'm sure you can argue either way.
I know the right mouse button is sort of your use key i.e. dialogue and open doors. But I couldn't find where to change it in the key mapping.
Ambient sounds have to be turned down right away when you start the game, I mean don't even enter the game before turning them down.
This one I'm not sure if it is good or bad but, no stealth/assassin class's in the game.
Upsides to this game (that I briefly saw):
Easy to find mission way points
Very interesting classes
Obviously the RVR
It's cartoonyish but its nice artwork
Interesting and funny dialogue
Intertwined map/quest/ability/titles system
These ppl waited to release the game until they were satisfied it was in good shape
#1 Reason IMO, its now WoW. I don't care how many ppl say it is a CLONE or a RIPOFF
I'm sure other ppl can add some things to what I have already stated.
I'm sure a lot of these things will be changed down the road

Most people are like slinkies, they are only entertaining when you push them down stairs....
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
do you not have to rely on strafing and movement for attacking? if you do.. how could you not use a mouse :p... keyboard turners = easy kills
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
The stores are selling pre-order boxes likely for the early access that opens today I believe. I'm gonna give the game a pass though. It just doesn't seem all that appealing to me TBH. I'm pretty much down to just having EVE as my MMO of choice I think. I may look at starcraft world or maybe fallen earth and other than that I'll be playing singleplayer games like Fallout 3, Force Unleashed, Rock Band 2 etc for now.
RE: Warhammer Online - Who is trying this, and where?
I dont use the keyboard at all for movement. All movement is done with mouse, which is set for max sensitivity and turn speed.

I have purchased, and stayed up to 12:01 to create my account last night...I hate it when some takes my account name I like to use...
@ about 12:15ish I was able to log in and begin the patch process which I didnt stay up to watch, but it finished by morning and I believe was only a 100Mb.
I havent made a character yet or picked a server, but the war is beggining...
Some useful links...

I hope we can all pick the same server, it would have been nice to have someone organize this launch with PHX.
Poo seems the most knowledgable, I am just learning about the classes and battle options myself
btw...I did a alot of reading last night, and for you die hard pvpers this game looks promising.
What I am not sure, there is city vs city pvp also, and it looks like the 3 factions pvp in separate groups, I am not sure if it is cooperative or against each other, could be some guild pvp on each other.
I am sure I will have a good report on the game by Saturday, maybe others who are playing can update this forum.

A friend and I are starting on HELDENHAMMER, not to say that you have to join us. I don't play MMO's that often anymore, so I might not be around as much as other ppl. So with that in mind, feel free to join us or suggest a higher populated server.
We will be on the side of destruction.
Update:
You can get your crafting levels up real quick right now, try it out before it changes.
Black Orc - Uber good tank, w/ heal that is pretty good aswell.
BadAsh, Trevor is playing (obviously). I'm going to contact Imperil to see if he is in. Back to the old days of MMO's

A bunch of old buddies I used to game with back in the days of AC are playing on azazel (at least I think I spelled that right) on Order side (which was disappointing I kind of wanted to play destro). I was thinking of picking up the game and playing on the weekend... not sure what server or ruleset I'll play. I have to install Windows tomorrow night so I can play, and I'm pretty sure bran and I are going to pick it up.
I have no sig.
Mythic
having played "Dark Ages of Camelot" for years, and loved it (it having SET the PVP system) i thought i would state a few things that may come in useful for Warhammer; another Mythic game.
I have not played this game as of yet but in my experience a few commands in DAOC came in handy.
Nearest enemy target= F8
autostick= /macro stick /stick (this of course creates a hotkey)
Wpn change= drag wpn to hotkey and drop
www.camelotherald gave alot of info on these commands in the day, it may be worth visiting now.
Im hoping the PVP system is the same. Escalating your ranking and aquiring new abilities. These abilites get an icon and..of course get hot keys.
There was no mulitiple directional keys for styles. Just a hotkey.
For melee, the back side of your target (usually pvp) was very vurnalable.
Stun, run through your target, hit sticky and follow through moves on his back side.
