Laptop for under $1000

Post by PinkRabi »

Considering my limited knowledge of the US market, I thought I'd ask for your opinions.

So, what do each of you think is the best deal.....

GO!

kinda depends on what you're looking for I'm assuming some type of gaming though? My go to site for computer needs is tigerdirect.com or newegg tiger mainly has refurbed stuff but its usually got the best deal you can find barring knowing someone that needs to unload a laptop for cheap.

Yeh some type of game would be good. And a fairly decent battery life (sort of 4hours on battery saving mode), with hopefully a 17inch screen, though 15 would be fine.

I don't care if it weighs 10pounds or is the colour of bird crap really, so anything that just fills the above

Thanks

Because I am at MIT next year and I need a laptop, and US prices are so far cheaper than UK prices by what I have seen so far.

He is something I found while I was looking round. Lemme know whether you guys think this is value for money and if you think it will be able to play some of the latest stuff.

VGN-FW490 Configure-to-Order
VGN-FW490 CTO
16.4" widescreen with XBRITE-ECOâ„¢ LCD technology (1600x900)
320GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm]

ATI Mobility Radeonâ„¢ HD4650 graphics card with 1GB vRAM-great for games and movies
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz)
CD/DVD playback/burning

Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit

Might "splash out" and get the XBRITE-FULLHD for an extra $100 as I heard its pretty amazing, though not sure.
