Windows 7

Post by z3r07w0 »

I'm thinking about getting windows 7 home 64 bit. I'm currently running a quad system with 4 gigs of ram and vista. What do you think of windows 7 and what software should i purchase i.e. upgrade or full version...

I have Windows 7 64-bit. I run a Intel Q9650 w/ 4GB RAM and it runs fantastic. I did the Upgrade version, but one warning that you have to do a "workaround" to do a clean-install. It's not hard or even that big of an inconvenience, but it is the one drawback of the Upgrade vs. Full Install. Frankly, I wouldn't pay an extra $100 (or whatever) to help me avoid that workaround the one or two times a year I "may" reload my system.

I really like Windows 7 too. I don't know how many PC's you have, but MS offers a TechNet subscription which allows you 10 Win7 Ultimate licenses along with Server OS's and most of their backend software like Exchange etc... for only $349 the first year, $249/year renewal.

I have Win7 Ultimate on 3 PC's a laptop and 2 VM's along with Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010 for $249 a year ... I understand I am a dork but I thought I would mention it :D

And I agree with Arch totally, go for the upgrade and do the oobe method #2 here.

so yeah, a friend of mine is a software developer and runs mac, xp, vista, and window 7 on clone machines to test... he is so stoked about windows 7, he describes it as more functionality than vista and the stability of NT.

add to that the fact that windows 7 OS is developing smart phone software.

i played computer games on his Iphone from his computer when we went outside to have a smoke.

was amazing.

resource requirements are lower than xp to boot

waiting for the new pc i plan on getting but i understand this to be a must have OS.

Have the full version here, got at release at a reduced price (Would be about $100 for home version) and find it so much smoother than xp and vista i've played around with. Is a definite upgrade from my viewpoint.
Time stops for no-one. Why should I?
