Leaving Planetside
Leaving Planetside
I have decided to leave Planetside for sevral reasons
1) I haven't been able to play for 15 of the 30 free days
2) Lag, over use of harddisk, whatever, i get so much stuttering and hardlocking it isn't worth playing.
3) The devs add game content b4 fixing the numerous game faults, i'm fed up with getting shot by invisible people.
4) I can't get a game card in the UK to pay with and I refuse to pay by cc, even if I had one.
5) I'm bored with the game play, overall bad performance and the lack of some purpose makes this game not worth continueing.
I may try again in a few months when they have a chance to fix the problems but until then, see ya on SOF2. I may try out SWG when it comes out but I don't have much hope. Can see why pay to play is so unpopular

Time stops for no-one. Why should I?
Yeah i think after CR5/BR20 it will get pretty boring pretty quick. I mean really, how many big raids to Amerish can you go on? After you swap your certs around and try each of the vehicles and each of the different armor/ weapons, it will get old. I'm thinking about 3 Months of game play.
Ya know what would be cool, is if their were outfit vs outfit battles on 1 continent. Over a 2 hour or so period, who has the most time owning each base.

mr Hertz... I see you have not been keeping up to date with the updates comming in.
A competition of outfits.. .Something like CTF on bases.
Sanctuary raids... Capture all 3 sanc continents and go in for some happy fun time
Tower Silos... a whole new world of spawning
More battle ranks... Cr5 and Br20, and beyond
More vehicals... Liberator!
These kind of updates will make the game so much better and between now and 3 months I predict an even awesomer game with people cr10 and br50.

zarn you fail to understand the reasoning behind some people's lack of interest in PS
i warn you- i am beginning a "tell all the idiots why planetside is gonna suck" session, so read only if you have nothing else to do :fadein:
having more battle ranks and command ranks will not make someone sick of the game not sick of it anymore. a game gets dumb when u are continually doing the same shit over and over and are not really being overly challenged. soldier of fortune is able to obtain and retain your attention for such a long period of time because (mostly in matches) there is varied competition. it is continual action while planetside is more of a long boring drawn out game- where the one on one competition is very infrequent. there is no need for skill in the game- just a huge need to be the biggest computer nerd possible and waste away your entire life sitting watching the computer screen.
sorry if its sounds like i'm bashin planetside, but i really am- i enjoy the game now because i have yet to adventure into the various options avaliable to me in the game, but once i have played around and realized that my fighting is bloody pointless then i shall retire the game (i'm guessing a month and a half from now, tops- already getting bored shitless when i play at times).
i think there may be quite a few people who end up moving to something where the competition is focussed on skill rather than he who has the most time to waste away at their nerd box. fuck if i had the time i could be the best player in the game- not because i have the most skill but because i'm the hugest nerd and have wasted more of my time on it than others. i now have a bigger gun than everyone, more armour, the ability to repair my armou, and also the ability to repair my health. plus i can fly around in the ugglies mofo of a ship the game creators can invent with big ass rockets and bombs that will blow your ass straight out of your mouth. yes- the game has a very interesting concept of creating and building a single character- but once the "thrill of the chase," or the amazement of the first few battles is gone, the game has little to retain the gamer's attention, and thus will prove to be its downfall.
to be honest the game was unreal the first week or two i played it- i can feel it ever-so-slightly become shjitty though
i'll most likely see you more often in sof ttd!

I'm bored already at BR14/CR0 (actually I was bored the moment I was TR, Vanu are betar!), And I've still got another two+ months paid for (gah!). Unless this game really changes pace (at least goes faster than a slug on morphine and smoother than a bed of hot pieces of broken glass). A game without an end has no story, no primary goal. Something like that cannot catch my interest, the only reason I picked it up was because the majority of us moved over to it.
Levangles typed more than I would've bothered with (luckily I refreshed the page before posting). I'd rather be playing Justice League: Task Force. Actually, I'd rather be playing SoF2. Or maybe Postal 2. Then again, I'd play Dark Cloud 2 or even... read a book (with pictures, of course, words of more than five letters are hard!)! All of the things predetermined for Planetside in the future are not at all enough to entice me. I was looking forward to the Liberator, but I figured it will just be a mini Galaxy that drops frag grenades (and it most definetly IS!).
This is a good opportunity for me to spend more time on these Flash movies I've barely been working on. Or I could wait until this friday and pick up Star Wars Galaxies. Only REAL role-play games are allowed to be as slow as Planetside.
Whatever. Planetside is dumb in the face! I want a game with real individuality. Expect to see me in the SWG channel often, or perhaps SoF2 or Enemy Territory.

Yes, this game is not meant for everyone.
The people that get "bored" with the game spend way too much idle time sitting in empty bases, waiting for some pie in the sky event.
The people that really enjoy this game, are pro-active and manage their time well, going where the action is all the time. When you're respawning into the action non-stop, thats where it's at.
Knowing where to go and what to do is KEY to enjoy this game. But not alot of people can handle that degree of freedom.
SOF2 is simple, and action packed. PlanetSide is complex, much more challenging and freedom based.
No need to justify why PlanetSide is not your cup of tea, just quit! no ones twisting your arm here. Most of us will play until something better comes along, but in the meantime I'm lovin it!
Oh, also I think people get frustrated because their boat-anchor scrap piles posing as computers slug the game to a crawl... well, lets just say that's not the games' fault.

Leave it to Xor to put everyhitng in an abstract way that tells it all.
But in my opinion, in response to Lev's comment. I see no advantage a Br20 guy owuld have over a br10 guy if they were to come into an encounter. Its not like the higher level the more damage he does or anything its all about what certs he has and at one time the maximum certs you could have to fight someone with would be like about 4 or so an any medium level peoron could get 4 certs for their infantry....
Or something...

Note to Xor...
I do enjoy Planetside...but
a) I stutter so much that it takes forever to get to the action where you guys are and it's all over when I arrive.
b) The few times I do get in a good battle, I stutter so much I get wasted without being able to return fire.
Thus I cannot enjoy it fully and it is pointless me paying to do jack-all for hours on end. It ain't no fun!

Nice post Xor! Timetodie i do understand your situation you have a different problem than most of us, if you must leave planetside (we will still luv you in a non homo way) thats fine. One of the great things about the guild is the freedom to be able to leave one game and pick up another, as was said by Xor "Most of us will play until something better comes along" I have to agree right now this is our "cup of tea" and I dont expect everyone to just drop what they are doing to play planetside. I think for the most part we are just looking to play any game (FPS of coarse) besides SOF. For those leaving we will miss you, but life goes on as does the game. Happy Hunting in whatever game you play.
I understand completely TTD, It's all good!
And Kirson, I see you also put you were bored with the game , I wasn't targeting you at all, but it looks like I was responding to you (I din't even read your post until after I had posted, they were right after eachother) But you're probably one of the coolest players I've played with, always got the AMS and ANT ready to rock! You'll be missed man!

I'll still play when I'm bored... though would that not make me more bored!? Gasp!
I got bored with all that heavy fighting and my early-in-the-morn' Hardcore ANT Runs and the same few bases being captured again and again. Eighty times out of ten, I'm killed by a Jackhammer as I round the corner, the other ninety-two times out of ten its a Reaver or a MAX.
One thing I got into back in the Beta was Combat engineering with a Reinforced suit while driving an AMS around and wielding the Lancer. That was damn good fun. Now I was headed for ALL assault and Advanced hacking and and AMS, so I might possibly be an omnipotent sort of base-ransacker.
Though its not working out too well, Upon entering, my meager TR weapons can't copmpete with the Jackhammer or the multitude of Thumper grenades. And then when I do this with a few dozen friendlies and enemies, there's not much difference, It only takes one guy to kill me, and I have the extra worry of being shot in the ass by a friendly's thumper. More frustrating than fun.
Maybe If I try going back to my "Vanu" style, I'll catch a spark or something, but I'll have to wait quite a few days to unlearn all this junk. I won't have immediate access to the Lancer (or the ammunition), which was my favored weapon. The Bolt Driver can't compete and the Striker is a crappy AV weapon.
I had found my key spot in the Beta, but now I'm practically no longer able to use it. And to the "coolest players" part... I think I'm actually quite warm... Er, wait. Ah, whatever.
