Teamwork Script!
Teamwork Script!
(Insert Early Fourties Propaganda image of a "common" American Family with rifles and backpacks, including spot with a medic helmet) "Keep your parners informed! Keep your enemies surrounded! Keep your behind intact! With Crevan's Teamwork Script!"
Whatever. Like the Voice Command lists, The Teamwork Script will have a bunch of team-spoken lines, with both the benefit of being more detailed in information and not alerting the enemy to your location with audible voice commands. Such as...
1. Enemy to the...
1.1. North!
1.2. South!
1.5. North-East!
So pressing 1 and 8 in quick succession would relay the information that enemies are to the south-west of your location. Or pressing 3 and 3 would tell your allies that you've set down and are covering the area to your east. And perhaps I'll make a set, so that you can press... 8, then 3, then 2. With that, you'll inform your comrades that you are wielding a PPSh.
Unfortunately, I'm attempting to have near to fifty-plus commands, so a print-out may be necessary for those that want to actually use the majority of the commands for more effective teamwork. Since I've noticed that whenever one of us takes a moment to speak through Ventrilo our focus is skewed from the game (I've been getting severely bad sessions where I press the talk button, EVERYTHING lags: the game and ventrilo so I can't even say what I wanted to, and I end up dying while moving like I had an 800 ping).
This will prove to be more effective than pulling incoherent words together to speak them into a chat thingie with a half-dozen-second lagtime. Of course you won't be able to use them while you're dead, but then you'll not need to focus on the game because you ARE dead. I had made my own team-command thing back in SoF2, but it was designed to fit only my requisites, this is far more base and can be picked up by near anyone.
As another unfortunate matter, the Echo cmd doesn't seem to work in CoD, and I've yet to find an alternate means to show only the user information (When you press 1, you'd get some signal or as hoped, an echo saying "You see an enemy to..." then another number would have you say_team "Enemy to the Whatever!") that would direct him in using the correct sequence (Just in case you press the wrong key, and tell your buddies you have no health left, even though you're full and you've lost the opportunity to flank a group of germans).
...
Its called "Crevan's" because Crevan is my universal handle. Whatever.

That is not the question, but of course. Any of the sets that use directions will always be organized in the order of: 1.North, 2.South, 3.East, 4.West. And put that order with diagonals: 5.NorthEast 6.NorthWest 7.SouthEast 8.SouthWest. There are many that only use the directions, so they shouldn't be difficult to adapt to.
I've only made set one (Enemy to the Direction) so far, and I'm already used to quickly using it. As well as the Health Set, its in the simple order of number, one to five, one being lowest, five at full health.
And as with the Weapon Wield Set, its organized into the same Weapon order as the Pick your Weapon window. First you press one through five, selecting from which class you have the weapon from: 1.American 2.British 3.Russia 4.Germany 5.Extra (Extra meaning Pistols, Panzerfausts and the FG42), then you press the same exact number as the weapon would be in the weapon select screen. Unfortunately IW didn't have the same <P> thing that SoF2 had, so it has to be this complicated.
Its as simple as possible while offering... uh, stuff.
Update: I've made the first five sets: 1.Enemy Direction, 2. Advance to, 3. Misc (Its a mix of the common sayings in Voice Commands, including Grenade! Reinforcements! Ow, My ankle!), 4. Health, 5. Cover Fire.
The reason Three is Miscellaneous is because its just above the W key. If the enemy throws a grenade, you don't have time to press V, then 2, then 5. With this, you double-tap 3 and "Grenade!" I was considering making 3.3 have the "Grenade" voice command, yet it would only alert the enemy they they've jarred you from you position. So just be alert to the Text Corner.
For five, unlike the other direction sequences, is two sets of NSEW. One through four is "Requesting Cover Fire to Direction" and Five through Eight is "Sniper Cover". The reason they're both in the same sequence and are only the four general directions is because its expected for whoever is covering with a machine gun or rifle to watch over a wide area. So if I say I want sniper cover to the north of my location, the guy in the tower is going to see me to the East and cover the area north and east of himself. Or something of the like.

This isn't the Numberpad. Most (if not all, I think some of us use those GamePads) of us use WASD for movement in the left hand, and aiming with the mouse in the right. I'd rather keep my hands on my gun while I press numbers, and keep my left hand as close to the movement keys as possible.

Exactly, so push the button. And give an idea for Nine.
Update: Here's the First Version of the Teamwork Script. Unfortunately there are fourteen .cfg files (since the vstr doesn't work like it did in SoF2), but just put them all in the Main and "/exec crev1.cfg" in console and look over the... instructions.
There's no Echo, no signal or anything in this to show what you pushed so far, I'll try to find another means.

Ammo or exact location?
Possibly make it player bindable that way they can put it their annoying little personal kill macro
Maybe for the different options menus or something

Ammo, Maybe, but I don't believe that IW inserted any such means to exactly say how much ammunition you have, unlike SoF2...
Exact Location, look at the radar, whoever team_says's green triangle turns into a blinking red exclamation point. That about as exact as possible.
Unfortunately, an "annoying personal kill macro" would be a normal say thing, which is not allowed in competetion (cal, ogl, whatever) matches, which is mostly what this was made for. You could easily put one in yourself.
If I could find a means to actually have the sequences pop-up in a small window like the Voice Commands, I would, but I've no idea how to do that. That's why it sucks that the Echo command doesn't work in CoD.

can I make a suggestion?
if the group is in 3 teams, each in its own voice chanel to knock down chatter and then use the keys to communicate with the rest of the group? hotkeys to move from chanel to chanel when you are dead to update people on the situation.
I do NOT plan on doing competition in this game fyi, but I have been in quite a few ladders in my time.
I will probably register though if we join... and be a permanent alternate if that is ok with everyone.

That's Ventrilo. The added lag and monotony of switching channels and only having access to select members at one time doesn't seem to be a particularly efficent means of communication.
I've been on a bunch of ladders in my time, too. Those rope-ladders are really tricky.</sarcasm>

Updates on a bunch of things.
I believe by using a hell of a lot of cvars, I can put everything into one config file. As well, the echo command doesn't work in the way hoped for (The echo only appears in the console, not on the game screen), but, by either hoping a cvar works or by making everybody type their name a few dozen times in the designated spots, a "Tell-to-Self" would be the "best" remedy (although in this way the message appears twice. Well, you'll definetly catch it).
It would go something like this...
bind 1 "vstr Crev1; tell PHX-DenKirson ^7You see an enemy to the..."
Pressing one will load the "Enemy to the <Direction>" list of binds, and in the top-left corner of the screen will be...
"[PHX-DenKirson]: You see an enemy to the...
[PHX-DenKirson]: You see an enemy to the..."
...
And perhaps for Sequence Three (Misc), the Tell-Self would be "1.Hold! 2.UnderFire! 3.Grenade! 4.Sniper! 5.Backup! 6.Yes! 7.No! 8.InPosition! 9.EnemyDown!"
That's the best I can come up with for now.

Also Zarn, you're still lacking ideas to give.
