CPU Overheating? Does it only do it when playing SWG, or any game?

Holy shit! I just look and my power supply fan is not working. Will this cause any damage to anything else and are the fans as easy to replace as the others?

Well, I'm sure you can replace the fan, but I've always just replaced the whole power supply when that happens. Anyone else?

For thirty bucks, make a big hole in the side of your case, then duct tape together a clothing dryer vent and a small electric fan, and hook that up to the case. Bam, super fan!

when was the last time you unplugged the computer... and if SWG is the only game.. depending on what vid card you have.. it may be overheating.... if you had other intensive vid games.. it should happen to them as well.... when i have probs beyond those i just build another computer with my butterknife

I agree with Arch, replace the whole thing. You may have "scarred" its ability to maintain a consistant flow of steady voltage.

As far as damaging other components -- I hope not, but you'll know right away if something else has failed.

Well $$$ is kind of thight so I'm gonna try another fan first. The connecter on the fan was melted a little but it seemed it was just the outside. I have another PS, but its smaller that this 1. This 1 is a 420 and the other is like a 300. I'm worried that it won't be powerful enough to run everything.

the power supply needed is based basically on your vid card..... the 6800 geforce overclocked needs a 420-450 PS... my 5200 geforce works fine on a 300W.. alot also depends on how much other crap you have connected to the PS.... sometimes its alot easier to just get a new box with a PS in it.... i got a 420W PS box with 3 case fans.. one on the side near the agp slot.. clear side case for only $59... added a 2.8 athlon and motherboard for an extra $89.. popped in my $59 geforce 5200.. and $39 60 gig HD, $29 512 ddr ram, and $19 dvd/cd player... bam brand new system.... i sold it for $900..... went back to the store and did the same thing a week after that was built
