Ok this is a short story of a chapter in my life and how we (my family)helps deal with it. It is not a very tragic story, but defiantely one that could have had a horrific end instead of a steadfast binding effect. It's with a bad start that leads to a happy middle and, well, the end hopefully is far off..

This is a tale of how my mother found out she had cancer and the way we try and help those who are trying to cure this. Don't feel bad if you want to just go on to another post, this is not your everyday happy post about gaming and getting away from everything. but this is an outlet where I can write this, even if no-one reads it at least I said it , and that's what matters to me.
Ok here we go

My Mother chose to take up an annual offering at the place of her employement. the company she works for is renowned for the quality of enviroment and dedication to it's women employees. it was at one time voted the best place to work if you a woman and a single mother in MI. Well the company was doing it's annual breast cancer awareness drive and it was offering mamograms to it's employees. like I said my mother took them up on their offer, thank goodness she did. Unfortunately she had a lump, fortunatley they found it. well tests and tests and tests determined that our fears were realised, it was malignant. There was radiation and chemo, ofcourse, and happily for our family (especially my mother) the best result we could hope for was that she was cancer free and she was. The drama and ordeal was now a fresh memory. I wish that I could have taken her place during that whole difficult time. this was the year 2001.

Now every year since her recovery our family joins the American Cancer Society in a 24 hour event called the Relay for Life, maybe some of you have heard of this. It is quite an event. In the city I live in the event is held in a public park. There is a track around the park and someone from each team is on the track for the whole event walikng around it, hopefully your team is kinda big so you don't have too many hours walking. all sorts of community companys, and businesses and politicians are involved, the Mayor stays the night. everyone has campers or tents or RV's they stay the nite in, food and entertainment the whole nite long. there are several somber moments during this event to remind everyone why your here, the survivor walk, the luminarie list reading... well the whole event has a threefold purpose, 1 to enlighten people the dangers of cancer and the wisdom of early testing, 2 to give the survivors a way to get together and remember the struggle won or family and friends who they lost, and 3 ofcourse to raise money.

this year my family has a website our team name is Ohana (means family) here it is take a look at it.

=) well for better or worse that is my story.

Well, let's set it from now, until May 1st. Seems like a long time, but it's a worthy cause (one that our family has participated in the past as well) and we are all family.

I'd encourage those that would like to give not to wait until May 1st......lol
